A. I play a high elf, but I truly don't think at this stage of the game that it matters. I have seen Fae Guardians take a beating just as good as a Barbarian.. so I am not entirely sure your race even matters anymore.
Your race can have an impact on your toon.

Based on your race, you start with different stats (INT, WIS, etc). "Starting stats", as it were, scale to your level. So if you start out with a (this is just for example) +5 INT bonus at level 1, then by level 70 it would be more, though I don't think its a very significant amount, especially for raiding toons who's gear and M1 buffs outweighs the necessity of starting stats. However for a very casual player with Treasured and Mastercrafted gear, this can make a big difference.

You're starting stats are also different for each race.

For example, Erudites start out with much more INT than say, a Barbarian or Ratonga. So a Barbarian is technically "better" for a tank, and an Elf or Erudite is technically "better" as a mage or priest, and a Ratonga is technically "better" as a scout.

Also, racial traits (chosen every certain amount of levels (i don't remember which ones off the top of my head) via the plusy) are different per race.

Erudite's and High Elf's racial traits more geared towards FT, INT bonuses, and max power increases. Similarly, a Barbarian's or Ogre's racial traits are more geared towards STR/STA and HP bonuses.

Humans are the most well-rounded with these traits and starting stats. Although you get to pick and choose which stats you want, they don't match the amount compared to a race meant for that stat (Barbarian for STR, Erudite for INT, etc).
