Default My ACT keeps breaking :(

This is going to be a fairly non descriptive post because there are no errors I can quote or any occurrences I an explain other than the following:

I download ACT, install it correctly and update my timers. Play EQ2 and run ACT, and it works like its suppose to, all features usable and no errors/problems. Do this for any number of days/weeks and all the sudden, on a new day, I try and load up ACT the program doesn't load properly and doesn't display an error message.

What is happening is the program shows on that task bar and system try but no windows are showing up. I close program and reopen. Same thing. Restart computer and reload, same thing.

Any ideas what is causing this, how I can prevent or fix?

Thanks

Are you opening it with EQ open or before you start EQ? Have you reinstalled it after doing a clean uninstall?

The only thing I can think of is that you somehow closed ACT off-screen and it is restoring itself to the same position. If you look in your ACT\Config\Advanced Combat Tracker.config.xml file about 150+ lines down for something like:
Code:
<FormActMain X="63" Y="187" W="1428" H="776" />
If the X or Y values are greater than a position on your screen, then obviously you won't see the window.

I've done it both ways and its worked properly before.

Yes, this is probably my 6th or 7th re-installation after this problem.

Will look @ that today or tomorrow aditu, thanks for the input. The only thing I can think of is that I am minimizing ACT to system tray and turning off my computer w/out closing the program first, which is only way I close it off screen ?

Well I looked @ the file you told me too and there were some outrageous numbers for the x y inputs.

I didn't exactly know what to do so I just deleted that specific file and reopened ACT and it worked, but obviously lost my info.

It has to be me not closing out ACT when it is minimized to system tray and turning off my comp, I will just have to be more mindful not to do so.

Thanks Aditu

You can delete lines like that in the XML file and the defaults will be used. You do not have to delete the entire file. You must not break the general XML specification of the file, but aside from that, you can delete anything and it will go to default.

ACT already ignored screen positions less than -32 and greater than 10,000. So your outrageous values should have been within those, I assume? There was once some bug that caused the values to be near 32,000, which is why I chose 10,000. I suppose I'll have to see about detecting the user's screen dimensions and ignoring values out of those ranges.

They weren't over 10,000.

But loooking at the numbers you posted and comparing them to mine they were way off, even if u were using a larger screen than myself.

Code:
 Code:

<FormActMain X="63" Y="187" W="1428" H="776" /></pre>
I want to say my X was @ 1000+ and my Y was as well.
