Default Problem running ACT

ACT will not run after being installed. I have tried the .exe and the Zip download, and both give me "Advanced Combat Tracker for EQ2 has stopped working." Screenshot with info included. Vista64 is OS.

I've had people run ACT in Windows XP-64bit without huge trouble... though I did need to do one tweak. .NET applications will compile to their destination machine... meaning if run on a x64 computer, they will be a 64-bit application. I however had to force ACT to compile as 32-bit only, because it used external DLLs such as the G15 and SpeechLib linker which were 32-bit and I could not include 64-bit versions of both.

Windows XP-64bit was fine with that... though Vista has its own unique problems, so I guess I'm not surprised to see more. There are rare occasions that ACT simply does not run on someone's computer, even with WinXP x86. If they ever resolved their problems, I wouldn't know because they didn't tell me... but there's not a lot I can do about it as it would have to somehow be a mis-configured "something".

I tried switching the compatibility of ACT to run in Windows XP SP2, but still have the same issue.

Vista64 makes me cry sometimes...

Did you install the correct .Net to make it run?

I have .Net 2.0 which is the version required for ACT.

But do you have Download details: .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x64) or Download details: .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86)? It is very important to notice, that the 2nd one will work, however the first one will not.

When installing the x86 version I get "Error: Cannot install on a 64-bit operating system"

Downloading the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 fixed the problem. Thanks for all the help Cal, and Aditu. Not sure how common of an issue it is for people using Vista64, but have them try that install if they are experiencing similar issues.
