They can solo insanely well. Like zero downtime. They're needed in groups. Can't really solo heal hard shit unless your group is on top of shit and your tank is a fucking brick shit house. You wouldn't want to solo heal anyways. But you can backup heal/backup dps very nicely. Your ALWAYS doing something when you're playing whether its spot heals or dpsing.

I had one as a main. I wanted to play a class I was interested in but unsure of. Early on she was fucking BORING but once she got to 20 or so in groups there is never a dull second. You're never sitting there doing nothing you're either DPSing to get your debuffs on mobs or healing people. I'm going to have one in live for sure.

Hmm playing a troubi in eq2 I like the role of a supporter but I heard that people might want to take a second cleric over a cleric+chanter combo any time since in pvp it is all burst damage and you need shitloads of heal....
Are they really of a benefit for groups? I mean buffs are nice but will people tend to have a chanter + cleric or 2x cleric in group?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I've never had a problem getting a group for PVE. PVP might be another story but they get some nice buffs and debuffs. I'd expect a cleric to have a gigantic bullseye on his head where a chanters might not be as big.

A chanter in this isn't a chanter in EQ =P But for PvP I'm told that's quite a sexy combo. Buff the crap out of the assassin and be the bait for some poor sap.

Yeah the Aion chanter is like a bard with enough heals to replace a cleric for single-group pve content. (A closer match for EQ2's enchanter would be the Aion Sorcerer)
Chanters are the only class that has significant group buffs. If you like playing support classes in MMOs, you will definitely like the Chanter. It does really good dps for being support. It is also the 2nd most desired class for raid pve and group pvp after Cleric.
The downside though is that they lack the group heals/cures to make them viable solo healers for raid pve and group pvp. Only Clerics can solo heal those scenarios. And they are also one of the worst classes to solo pvp with... just a step above gladiators.
The ideal pvp group almost always contains either Cleric/Chanter or Cleric/Cleric/Chanter.Mezelardo80 Paladin90 Shadowknight90 Paladin
