There's nothing wrong with a challenge. But when that challenge is arrived at via an endless grind (raiding) the carrot at the end of the stick isn't worth chasing anymore.
A lot of us started raiding in the early days of EQ and have kept up with raiding through various games through the years. The only thing has changed is the graphics, the names of the mobs and the name of the company getting the monthly fee.
Pattern recognition slowly sets in, and some come to the conclusion that 20 hours a week to get virtual shiny bits has a shitty ROI.
