Yeah, what he pretty much says is the reason why I feel MMO's are dead for me. Nothing more then a single player easy mode game with extra kids running around acting like idiots.

And there you have the future of gaming. Expect it to last 7 or 8 years until today's idiot kids grow up and realize there is a whole world of gaming that actually requires several brain cells working together in harmony, and, heaven forbid, might actually require a number of other humans with similarly harmonious brain cells working along side him/her to really make game play meaningful.

Modern MMORPG's lack flavor because they are barely the least bit cinematic and keep spinning their wheels on better whack-a-moles.

You have 5 seconds: name 3 NPC's in EQ2 who have any aura of depth at all.

If you answered Antonia Bayle, Lucan D'Lere, or Lord Nagafen, you are WRONG. They're practically props compared to good characters done by RPG's in the past.

very sad story, especially coming from BioWare.

I expected better of them than simply "let's follow WoW so we can sell more."

I mean, it's idealistic to expect anything other than that in today's market, but I always had a lot of respect for BioWare due to the games they had made, so I guess I expected better.

That read like a "How to be Success in the Business World" lecture.

More or less the recipe on how to make games that people will play. Which is what gaming companies want, right? Who wants to make a game with the intention that only a select group of players will be interested?

This is right up there with platform gaming built in and advertised cheats, and very much the future of gaming. No one wants to make challenging games, they wanna make games that spread like disease.

Who the fuck is this Walton guy? Hope he has a heart attack. Someone from Bioware talking about MMO's? Wha? Fuck Bioware. They lost my vote when they fucked up the NwN franchise and gave it to atari. ( GOTTA have these guys in your party? Everyone HAS to stop moving and listen to what this guy has to say in multiplayer? Can't be in different zones? Can't talk to two vendors at the same time? )

Fuck Bioware.

The gaming industry is in a sad state. Fortunately, I see a gigantic bowel movement coming that'll help clean it out. We'll see.
