Default Sony's Craptacular delivery

Probably enough said right in the title.

PS3 Problem 1: (it's number 1 because it's the most annoying)

Thousands of people were stuck at 4% updating for 3 days or more, never able to play their games online. Some people are still waiting.

There is an option to download it from Sony's website and load it on flash memory or a SD card or memory stick duo, but the file they hosted there was corrupt as well, and a 119mb file would download as 10.1 mb and not do squat.

This was total poop for people wanting to play warhawk, or do any PVP work at all.

I finally had to download my update via .torrent.

PS3 Problem 2: 60-70% of the games listed for release are delayed... In the last month these games started out with one release date, and are shipping later. Grand theft auto Iv, Supposed to release in october, now releasing next March. Stranglehold Supposed to release weeks ago, releases next week. Lair released 2 weeks late.

PS3 Problem 3: They're re-releasing games I already own on PS2 to PS3. I should pay 60 bucks because you made it widescreen and HD compatible just so I can replay a game? Splinter Cell: Double Agent just wasn't good enough PVP wise to play it over other better games on the market, so I'd just be replaying a story that just wasn't that challenging or enjoyable to begn with. Choosing one faction or the other had about as much effect as having done it in EQ2:DOF. more/less tools on one mission or another, but who needs all those tools? Wandering around with an extra sticky shocker is silly when you can get through whole levels without ever knocking anyone out.

So yeah, here's to Sony. Unfortunately it's not just the PS3. EQ2:ROK will probably introduce enough bugs and balance problems that we'll see another wide sweeping combat update in the spring. Instead of stat curves they'll probably go to some crazy pie chart that leaves crusader strength capped at 250, warrior mitigation capped at 38% and nerf's heals to 70% of their previous effectiveness.

Well, would you prefer to continue playing 10 month old content instead? I'll take balance issues over running OOB one more damn time.

actually I'd like sony to pick one combat system and stick with it. if that means that I can't replay old content enjoyably without mentoring, then so be it.

sure, this might mean damage and stat numbers that just boggle the mind of previous tier players, but better that than a 6th and 7th stab at a combat system that has consistently left big holes in some classes that started out the first 5 tiers as less than desireable in many situations and the same classes are still less than desirable in most of those same areas. Quit throwing us bones trying to make those classes *seem* a little less crappy while at the same time paying out big to classes that always had it big to begin with. People can safely start dumping their shadowknights and troubadors etc. instead of hoping that "next time they'll get it right"

Every time they swing their combat update stick (which is usually GINORMOUS) around all they do is FORCE you back into those old zones to keep working at them because now you can't even do those as effectively as before, much less attack the new ones properly. In essence pushing old instances up a level or three. It has the effect of giving them more room to maneuver within a tier, with less development time.

It's time to get past the stage where people farm the previous two tiers for masters and loots for cash and start the stage where even 11 months is too little to "see it all". Honestly, throw us a BIG one... THE big one. I honestly think that SOE could wrangle a lot of their old subscribers back if you suddenly had 3 or 4 more raiding/instancing (better... screw instances, go *all* contested) tiers to deal with, instead of just one that's well beaten 3 months in.

They gave us almost a year to beat the first 5 tiers, now they're giving us almost a year to beat one that's about 1/3 or less of that size.

Balance issues to any extreme can make the game very unentertaining and unappealing.

The "extreme" balance issues are subjective and/or rare. I don't remember EoF bringing in huge ones but can admit those AA's....they weren't right when they shipped.

Mitigation changes was rather big. Albeit not as enormous as past combat revamps.

Honestly, i want another combat revamp. Fourth times the charm! I cannot forsee any true progression in EQ2 with the current mechanics. Progression based off gearing up that is.

What about the entire cloth vs. plate when EoF shipped?

fifth. If it happens again it will be the fifth time. in 4 years.

You may as well just take up a new game every year, except that a new game will give you more than 10 levels and 7 zones to play with.

the only way I would buy a PS3 before the price drops to 200 or less is if they remake FF7 for it. Which likely will not happen ever

Besides Emulators on the PC are so much better.. err what?
