KLH Threat Meter - Actaully shows you where you are on the threat list, fault for some fights (IE Onyxia) but encounter changing for fights like Vael.
Scrolling Combat Text - Even though its everything you can figure out, it lierally tells and shows you EVERYTHING happening to you right on the center of your screen.
Decursive - Gives you a little menu on your screen that will show what ailments a friend has on them, and ONLY ones that you can cure. All you have to do is click on the name and the ailment, and it cures that ailment without ever even dropping a target. You can also set priority so certain ailments are cured before others. And if you don't want to click them, you can make a macro and command "/decurse" to do it for you.
Carnival Casting Bars - Shows exactly what your enemy is casting, and the duration the effect has left on the enemy. Also shows spells casted on friendly units. So say the main tank had a regrowth or renew casted on them, you would know you don't need to cast yours until the effect is almost gone from the HoT.
Whisper Cast - Anytime a buff drops from someone and they would want it back, they send you a whisper with a buff name, and if you have it set to, it instantly casts the buff on them, or you can click on their name in a drop down menu and do it yourself. Useful in raids mainly for paladins when a person gets battle rezzed and needs blessings.
I do not remember the name of the mod, but - there is a mod that if you are healing someone, and it is about to end (.5 seconds left on cast) and the person is above 80% health - the heal will instantly cancel it self so you don't waste the mana.
There is also another mod I can't think of the name to, that will instantly use your racials such as Will of the Forsaken, Escape Artist, or your PvP trinket when ailments such as roots, fears, stuns, etc are done to you.
There are for sure more but I am currently pressed for time and will say more as I remember - but as you can see, Addons play a HUGE role in raiding. Also the addons I posted, they are commonly used by most of the WoW community, not just the raiding.

and honestly, if eq2 had these addons, how many people would not use it?

If EQ2 had these addons, raiding in EQ2 would become even worse than it already is. These addons are retarded and people who need them shouldn't be raiding in the first place. The problem is, because of these addons, the game has to be setup thinking you have the addons, so to actually do the content you have to have the addons.

We leave that up to each person to figure it out on their own.

You are talking about one aspect, of only PART of one of the addons. Nice try at disproving my post, but you lose.

i used ct_raid for group organization, not for the center warning on screen. since patch .10 or .11 they added a raid command /rw which enable raid leader t do the same thing....and keep in mind these are 40 man raid, so vent / ts play a bigger role than ct_raid when it comes to aoe calls or warning....
scrolling combat text is just what it is, instead of having to read the combat log line by line, it shows it by your toon. and this addon is still good, but doesn't matter anymore since the latest wow patch comes with its own combat text....i've found this addon to be more effective for pvping
as for the threat meter, i have never used it, but keep this in mind, tanks in wow have no direct taunt (except for one i think) unlike eq2 or ffxi tanks.
as for decursive, this mod is for lazy people and i admit it is cheezy, and for all the other addons you mention, i have never used before.
but just as Led mention in his other post, they are optional and not required to raid, its up to the player really....

I never use a watch or combatstats. Some people use what is called brainpower and dont have to rely on gay gimmicks to live.

Re: WoW vs EQ2
No, that is what you do not get. They are NOT OPTIONAL. If you are in a good fucking guild, they require CTRaid, KLHThreat, and Decursive, or you can't even fucking raid with them. Do you want me to start linking to guild websites to prove my point? Anyways, what is even more sad is that Blizzard adds these game changing add ons onto their interface. They encourage ezmode raiding.
