That Warhammer game.
So there's that Warhammer game. The online one, duh.
I keep hearing about it, praised like Vanguard was, the PvP is amazing, PvE too, and so on and so on. What I've seen of the graphics impressed me, I especially like the goblins.
I doubt I'll play it; I can barely run EQ2 as is and afford to pay for it. But what I've heard others' reactions so far:
PVE players are obviously not as enthralled with it as the PVP players. Like any MMO, some are more impressed than others.
So... your thoughts?

Re: That Warhammer game.
from what i've seen and read of the game:
graphics are cartoony which i don't particularly like, the videos i've seen had poor animations also.
combat is going to be same as everything else, so not much to say about that.
the "different" features:
- the worldwide journal or whatever it is which will basically eliminate the need for out of game hintsites and such, which is very nice, but not exactly my biggest wish in an MMO.
- PvE quests adding the PvP effort, this sounds very cool, especially given that i tend to play more on the PvE side, so it sounds like a nice dynamic way to integrate things, will have to see how it pans out in practice.
- being able to complete quests without having them ( i.e. if you kill 10 goblins and find someone that needs 10 goblins killed after, you can hand in to them) is nice, but again, i don't see this as a feature that makes me say "wow! I'll play the game for that!"
I was never into the whole Warhammer thing, so I don't get the appeal much. I also hated DAoC which is their last game. But, while i didn't like the game, i do respect the fact that it was a good game by all accounts and many people did really like it. From what i've seen of the devs, they seem pretty sensible and know what they're doing.
From what i know now, it's not even on my "to try" list. I just don't see any reason to play it over EQ2 or WoW. As things get closer to release and more info is released, maybe I'll change my mind.

Re: That Warhammer game.
Well, I can predict it is not going to be "a vanguard" by any means.
One thing I can say bothers me some about this game is the kind of WoWish graphics/feel. The graphics are definately a lot better than WoW, obviously. They are also quite a bit more gritty and realistic.. but it still has a cartoonish thing about it to me.
I believe this game is going to be the next big mmorpg tbh.
I don't see anything new in the near future that would be able to compete, except possibly AoC. I haven't played it, but if it is going to be like half Xbox game.. then I have my doubts about it and the pc mmorpg crowd. If it is going to require keyboard/mouse I may be wrong. I just don't see how you could possibly play a half decent mmo with a controller.

/shrug. I probably could navigate easier with a GCN controller, but typing and all that would piss me off. The cartoonish graphics don't bother me too much, they're not as bright as WoW's though.

I'm not sure, really. Could it put a dent into EQ2 or even WoW? Maybe. Vanguard sure hasn't, and I'm not 100% sure about LOTRO.

You could navigate better.
And besides for typing.. what about those tens and tens and tens of spells and CAs that you use? I think that is much more important.

Expect it to be much bigger than EQ2 at the very least. I don't think anyone other than Blizzard will come close to WoW, but then it has a lot more to do with the company and franchise than the game.
The thing I like most about the game is that they've identified the "boring" classes and attempted to make them more fun by giving them other things to do. For example, the priest classes often benifit from dealing damage rather than have them become heal bots.
The fact that each race only has four different classes also means that they won't be straight forward, one dimensional classes like "Tank", "Healer", "DPS", etc.

As for the first part: does that mean Imtithal will be out of a guild when Warhammer's released, assuming I don't check it out myself (90% sure I won't be able to,) because the PvPers are obviously more in awe with it than PvErs?! :<
Also:
That's pretty hard to pull off in the first place, the second part. Must have been a bitch to figure out.

Re: That Warhammer game.
I wouldn't say you'll need to look for another guild, since a lot of people simply won't like the look of Warhammer. Not to mention Nagafen is probably the most healthy server in EQ2.
As for what I was saying about the classes, this is a little paragraph about the healing class for the Empire (Human) race.

Thus, to reach the peak of your power you must join in the fight. Your prayers bear the power of your god to take life, or give it back, but they are designed to compliment your melee capabilities. Your blessings bring powerful boons to those around you, but you must be close to the fight for your words to reach them. To do your job you must place yourself at risk, but it is in this risky position which you are most powerful.
