Re: Vanguard GU 3
Bind on Equip (Attuning) sucks, in my opinion. I dislike any untradable items.
Equipment Expertise was way cooler than level requirements on gear, even if it was complicated.
The new LFG system is pretty good. And there's always a -shitload- of people LFG. Probably because there's a bug where everyone in the game is LFG at all times, even if they're in a group. :-P
I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about the following stuff, but gonna do it anyway, hehe.
As far as raid content goes, I've gone along on one beta raid where I have seen two different boss mobs. They were -not- tuned for 12 people as this guy says, they were tuned for 18 people, which is what we tested with, and based on performance input from the guilds testing they are going to decide whether raids will be for 12, 18, or 24 people. In my opinion the game ran fairly well with 18 people in a raid. It was honestly no worse than EQ2 for me at the lowest detail setting. However, there was a problem with the game crashing. We generally had 1 or 2 people crash per pull. =-x
"Contested"
I'm not sure if the guy touched on this, but they have a pretty interesting system that they are using for raid mobs since there are no instances. I don't know if -every- raid mob will be like this or if there will be some "true" contesteds. Basically when you participate in a kill on a raid mob you get a "lock out" on that mob and it will respawn before your lockout time is up. (The mob glows blue if you are locked out) During your lockout time you can not pull this mob again. So for example, you kill a mob, and then it respawns 24 hours later, however, you might be locked out, and unable to pull the mob again for 72 hours. This would effectively allow for up to three different guilds to have mobs on "lockdown." It will be impossible for one single guild to lockdown the server, however it will still be extremely difficult if not impossible for Joe's Casual Guild to ever see most of the mobs. Also, I have no idea what actual respawn and lockout times are planned to be, the numbers I used were just examples.
