Just when you thought SoE customer service suked balls, here comes Microsoft Xbox 360

You get to experience Xbox 360 customer service.

Holy fuking shit.

I got an Elite and a 50' Tv with some Best Buy special last week. I played Halo 3 for a few and decided that I liked Mech Assault 2 better. Yeah im crazy. So I pop in my old Mech Assault 2 game and it says I need to do an update to be able to play original xbox games. So I do the update and the console resets, up comes my Mech Game menu and all I am able to do is watch a Trailer from E3 from 3 years ago when the game came out.

I call up the Xbox number. Which puts me in touch with friggin India. After 2 hours on my fuking cell phone this douchebag who repeats everything backwards in the worst broken English ever spoken says hes sending me an update disk in the mail that will update me to September's update. Heres the thing. The latest update that Microsoft has is July 2007. The latest update that xbox live updates me to automatically is July 2007, yet this donkey says he has some September thing lying around. BTW its fuking October 2nd.

So they say the only way I get this magical update is if the send it to me and it takes 3-4 weeks.

The way I see it, Microsoft makes like billions of dollars a day. They somewhat have there shit together on updates and knowledge base help. No fuking way in the world is this donkey sending me some September update that Microsoft or a Google search has ever heard about.

Fuck you Xbox outsourcing assholes. You made millions of dollars in the time it took me to type this out but you decide to pay someone $3.00 an hour that R2D2 can't even understand.

Congrats Microsoft for beating out SoE for the worlds shittiest customer service. You even beat out Verizon DSL which was close to impossible. If only everyone I worked for had a cable modem, i'd be unemployed.

Thinking of the number of companies where the customer service didn't suck, I think only NewEgg makes that list for me, including ones I worked for.

RealNetworks was a fun experience, cancelling my NFL Field Pass membership. It was the worst punjabi ever.

First of all, microsoft is NOT making "millions" in the time it took you to write that. In fact, in their x360 department, I would hasten to say they still haven't broke even.

Much like when the ps3 switched to fully independent hardware (and loaded up emulators), i think microsoft did the same with their most recent version of the 360 console (of which the elite was the first release). Its brand new software, so you're going to have to live with it being a live beta for a month or two.

I've never had a problem with microsoft Customer Support, in fact its often been my best experience (besides Intel, that was a blessing).

Newegg is probably the best.

Microsoft Windows customer service is good but the Xbox customer service is the fucking worst. If you ask the dude a question, he needs to search for an answer on his little sheet. If he doesn't find it in 10 seconds, he puts you on hold for 3 minutes till he can find a completely different answer than what you would expect.

Would you believe that an hour and 20 minutes into that call, the idiot finally asked what game I had a problem with. Not that I didn't say it about 20x already before that.

I don't see how they can't be making money when Halo 3 made $170 million+ in one day. I know they lose money on consoles and make it up in games/accessories.

NewEgg scores major points because they normally don't warrant retail items (instead saying you should go to the manufacturer), and I called them after ECS wouldn't deal with me on a motherboard that was DOA because I didn't buy directly from them, and NewEgg was like "Oh, ok. We'll let you return it, then."

It's very odd that you called the xbox number and got India. At least to me. I sent back two 360s for the "ring of death" and each person I spoke with was a young American male. Even each time I called to check the status b/c one of the 360s came back a week earlier than the other... I still got some American dude.

If you can get to the dashboard of your 360 go and clear your cache and hard drive. It will delete the update you downloaded. I don't know the key sequence but if you google it you will find it. Sucks you had to speak to an Indian support person, it irks me when that happens to me but I haven't been above asking for someone else if I can't understand them either. Good luck.

I formatted the Xbox hard drive. Re downloaded the Xbox patch via Xbox live and got zippo. I then burned the disc from the Xbox web site and it was already the exact same update that Xbox live did for me.

My only option is believeing Apu that they are sending me a September update disk that Google,Microsoft and friggin Wikipedia have never heard of. I sense me getting a July disk in the mail in a month....
