EA buys Bioware and Pandemic?

Dude, what the fuck. Ugh...I hate EA. Not for the most obvious reason everyone else hates them, but because I think their suits are a bunch of fucking imbeciles. HOPEFULLY nothing bad comes of this.

imo, Bioware hasn't done much good in years...

As for Pandemic, last game of theirs that I played was one of the star wars games for PS2...

I think EA is kind of out of control though. They already own how much of the gaming market, because of their mass selling titles? Now this, while Spore will be coming out early next year, which will also add to it...

Why wouldn't EA be interested in Bioware/Pandemic? They've got like 4 IP's in the works and a huge history of successful games. EA stands to make a crapload of money in the next 2-3 years.

Don't feel bad for Bioware either, at the bare minimum they got $620 million cash which doesn't include additional bonuses and stocks.

I won't say I'm not worried but this can go one of two ways:

A) This is EA's foray into the RPG business. The last good one they had was Ultima VII and that was 10 years ago. It makes pefect since to acquire an asset that can do what your company obviously can't and is similar to what they are doing with EA Mythic and Warhammer.

B) EA gets it's hands into these companies, tries to adjust management/production and completely ruins one of the most creative game development studios in the world crushing the dreams of millions.

Compare the two methods of competition elimination by buyout:

MS will buy a company, then rebrand their work as their own, with releases generally continuing normally barring terrible sales.

EA will buy a company, then scrap all its projects, because why should people be playing something other than Madden, anyway?

They fucked the whole Ultima franchise pretty bad after they nabbed UO from Origin. I was looking forward to UO:2 or UO:X, both projects scrapped by EA.
