Its fun, but needs more depth or it'll get very old in a month or two.

Needs more classes, more than anything. Oh, and a TON of new tilesets. Damn, the graphics are nice, but why do 99% of the areas look exactly alike? Lazy

It's Diablo in a 3D engine. If you enjoyed Diablo despite the repetitive tilesets then you'll probably enjoy HG:L. If you got bored of Diablo before you hit Lv10, then you'll get bored of HG:L.

You don't have to click through the non-storyline dialog quests if you don't care - the posted whining about that probably hadn't got past the first 2 or 3 missions. The storyline isn't really THAT strong either, but the mad brit and his techie sidekick in Charing Cross are pretty damn funny.

Overall combat is pretty simple (like Diablo), and only gets a little tricky when you get propery overwhelmed with more than a dozen or so mobs. Some individual mobs (the tall things in Millenium Battle) are kinda tough but you really won't die an awful lot unless you're not paying attention.

I doubt it will be game-of-the-year material, but as a mindless diversion it's worth a play.

story lacks, it's the same shit over and over in the same places over and over. And you have to pay 10 bucks a month for an instanced up game if you want all the good shit or to go past a certain level

Comparing it to Diablo means you never actually played Diablo to any technical level.

Even just counting the first game, there's more depth in the drop formula alone, not even counting the spawn engine or map generation than any other game than its sequel.

Diablo and Diablo 2 (the latter especially, with 1.10) are a technical gamer's wet dream due to the sheer complexity of the games and the time it takes to truly memorize and master (has anyone even beaten Hardcore Hell post-1.10 yet?).

Level 30 summoner here, just made it to nightmare mode. Ive been getting lack of sleep because of this game, however it is getting somewhat boring. I may buy a month to check out some of the other stuff but with RoK close it would just be wasted.

For me, its gonna be a game to end up playing here and there when i have nothing better to do.

So is anyone playing this now.

I have been playing it a lot, and not evne playing eq2 lately.

I am on Shulgoth and have been playing a blademaster name is Eiin and I am level 22 or 23 now.. I think leveling is actually slower than eq2 in this game, or nearly the same.

Ok, here's the skinny.

Great idea, but right now, it's complete shit. You don't need to pay 10 bucks to really get anything right now besides more character slots and more bank space. If you cancel, it takes it all away immediately, not in a month like it should. That's if you can even get the subscription to work. People have reported being charged 10 bucks EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Constant lockups, network errors booting people off the server, crashes, uniques that have absolutely NO stats. No respec, a few broken quests, but not many.

It'll be very very good in December when they release their first major patch. But for a lot of people, they can't even play it. That includes me. I drudged through 35 levels of having to reboot my computer because it locked up, and going through the same zone 5 times because I would CTD. My advice is to find a buddy with the game and install it on your rig, and play it for a while, probably a few hours, to see if you have any of the lockup/crash problems. There are a few fixes, which I can tell people if they're having trouble. But for a spot on review, head on over to When There Is No Room In Hellgate, The Dead Shall Inhabit The Bargain Bin

The game isn't terrible, but they just released it wayyyy too soon. Don't test it using the demo, because that's the SP build, and it's a lot more stable than the MP build they're using.

Use your own judgment, but I would wait until at least mid-December to pick it up.
