Ok, Crysis is out.

I saw it at the store and I bought it. I have heard so much hype and shit about this game it's insane, in fact.. that's the only reason i bought it. It's like the Halo 3 of PC's or something.. anyways, Should i open it?

What is the deal with this game, is it awesome or something? I used to love UT2k3 for competitive play, now i know Ut3 is about out, maybe i should just get that.. Is this like a 1 player game mainly or what?

i haven't personally played the MP but what i heard is it's objective based and since it runs on the crytek engine along with huge seamless maps and vehicles, looks like it'd be insane. My comp just cannot handle it is why i don't have, probly why i played eq2 so long

I have a fairly new and decent system (Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, 4GB RAM and a GeForce 8800 GTS) and I am running it at medium-ish settings
But it's really looking amazing; especially with DX 10.

Have played the SP campaign for a bit, but unfortunately haven't found time to really get into the MP. Played that it in beta though.

The SP campaign is the main draw for me, its simply an amazing feat on all fronts - graphically its the best game to date IMO, no other engine can even come close to rendering realistic tropical, alien, mountain, and arctic environments with visuals that force you to stop and just look at them for the sake of it. Gameplay-wise its got a great set of features with the dynamic options available via the suit's powers and weapon customization - and its one of very few FPS's where the guns feel realistic. The many vehicles all feel pretty well-done as well. The few times you get to fight the alien behemoth walking tanks are simply epic.

I played the MP beta a bit and it seemed like it would be VERY fun if you had a clan or joined a server where your team wasn't a bunch of idiots and they actually used comms for teamwork as far as Power Struggle. Unfortunately I acquired the game under less than legal means so I cannot play the released version online

Dude, what's wrong with your system? I have pretty much the exact specs you've got, except I have 2GB RAM instead of 4GB and I have everything turned to High at 1680x1050. Runs like silk, baby.

Edit: Wait... you said DX10. Sucks to be on Vista.

Yah, Vista.. Crysis is running pretty smoothly in my current settings: Textures are set at high (but just not all settings) at 1680x1050.

But even my performance in EQ2 was downgraded after the Vista install /sigh

Yeah, I tried it for a while but I couldn't live with the downgraded EQ2 performance so I put XP back on. I found EQ2 was quite unstable on Vista, too, but that was probably just my computer.

I played the SP demo on DX9, and found it to just be farcry 2.0. The AI the same retarded AI from farcry.

I intend to give it another whirl on DX10, if NCIX ever gets my damn video card shipped. Until then, this game can only be hyped for DX10 imo, cause the DX9 version falls on its face.

I'm afraid it's true. I'm just playing it because it's a wonderful technical achievment, otherwise it's just Farcry.

It's more the DX10 end. There were comparisons of Bioshock running DX10 vs DX9 on the same install of Vista, and the DX9 version whipped it in terms of framerate.
