I play CoD4 for a few minutes here or there, and I get plenty done in single player. Multiplayer is a little different.

CoD 4 is an awesome game.
Single player stuff is fun, interactive, and most of all, HARD if you play on Veteran difficulty. It will take you 3-4 days of straight playing to beat this single player. Probably 2 weeks if you're casual.

Multiplayer in CoD 4 is just 1 thing... FAST.
I went from 0 - 55 in about a week? Just pick a gun, get 150 kills with it, then pick another gun and get 150 kills with it, rinse wash repeat. You'll be 55 in no time.

Other than it being fast and pretty short to go from 0 - 55. You can create new characters to level from 0 - 55 or go after the Gold weapons, which are challenges based on kills, types of kills, and weapons used to make those kills.

I have never tried TF2, but I am not disappointed in my 50 buck investment in CoD4

they're both pretty amazing, the bonus with TF2 is the orange box gives you an ass ton of content, the real decider here is if you want a team strategy game, or a more tactical shooter.

I'm sure I am in the vast minority here, but TF2.

It's got unique, balanced classes, it's an addicting FPS, It costs like $29, and it comes with a metric fuck-ton of free new content every week or so. I enjoy COD4, but after about a month I had lost interest and was back to playing TF2 :P
