Don't quit until you at least get to Sanctum of Burning Souls, which is the first group instance/dungeon. It's 35-45 or so.
The game sorta opens up in stages... it's one experience at 1-20, opens up more at 20 (once you leave tortage) and opens up again at 40 (some very interesting quests and a choice of several zones you can be adventuring in)

I'm in the same boat. I haven't given AoC much of a chance but the addiction factor just isn't there. It might be testament to my MMO burnout or it might be a reflection of the game, I'm not sure. One of these days I'll force myself to sit down and devote enough time to determine how I really feel about the game.
The issues I have (bug related ones aside) are that I don't enjoy doing run around quests. I don't like linear game play and I don't like the overly complex racial cities. Someone in-game made the correlation to GuildWars and while I don't believe that connection is fair I don't like that they use GuildWars-like instancing on all their zones.

Re: Age of Conan reviews
That horse vid is great... Although the horses are some what a waste of money, that makes them worth what you pay for them... I liked blocking a bridge in FoTD with my mammoth for a little while, talk about some pissed off people... Oh, and jacking the arena event mobs from people is a blast, wait for them to run in, grab the mob and run out of the arena, the gate locks, they can't get to the mob and you can stand there all day with it...

Grinding is more efficient xp after the 40s anyway, and considering that 40 is halfway through the levels; its akin to getting 25 in launch EQ2 which barely got you out of Antonica and into Thundering Steppes.
Calling AoC boring or unimmersive within the first 40 levels, which you can get in two days, is pretty silly.
Its like quitting EQ2 at 25 and saying "its all fedex, screw this game!"
