vanguard = ran out money, sold off to soe and published early

aoc = got 30 million influx of funding, pushed the release off for a few months to ensure polish

not that this really says one thing or another about the quality of the end product but the approach of the two companies is completely different. also, Vanguard was overhyped by a lying lead dev with a messiah-complex who was more invested in his own reputation than in making a good game.

in the end, the game will have to speak for itself. i'll buy it because funcom is making it, the way many people bought vanguard because Brad McQuack was making it. if it sucks, I'll be the first to say so but at the moment I haven't seen any reasons to worry.

I've been following closely, and playing it on occasion, let's just say it's looking awesome but they got a long way to go. Mostly technical problems atm..mem leaks are horrid but nothing a little tweaking won't fix. The AI is something awesome and nothing I have ever seen before. These mobs are pretty smart when working correctly.

AOC isn't a standard MMO, plays more like TR than it does a standard MMORPG .
