Honestly once you get used to the way the combat works it flows very nicely. You would not believe how detailed you can get with the AI on your groupmates, you can literally give them enough information so you don't ever have to fuck with them and you can literally only worry about yourself.
You can set it so they immediately start healing anyone who drops below 80% health, or throw a regen on them, so they put up shields if people are ranging, or so they charge anyone who is using a bow or magic, tons of shit....
Depending on the role you pick for your main character, would of course change the AI setup on your groupmates, and depending on who you chose to go with you, but I found the AI settings to be very intuitive after really looking at them for the first time.
This game is utterly awesome, period.
