It's not like PC gaming even really exists anymore outside of MMOs, anyway.

I like PC's for MMO's, RPG's and FPS games

I like consoles for Adventure Games, Racing Games, Fighting Games and Sports games.

I just think the platforms are better at different types of games.

This tbh. Consoles and PC's have different strengths and weaknesses.

The statement "It's not like PC gaming even really exists anymore outside of MMOs, anyway." is just plain wrong.

Just off the top of my head... CSS, TF2, BF2, BF2142, C&C, SupCom, CoD, L4D, Empire Total War, Sins of a Solar Empire, Dragon Age, Bioshock, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Red Faction etc.. None of which are MMO's and yet are all very popular games. The list of good PC games just goes on and on, as does the list of good console games...

You named quite a few of those which are available on the 360 (Bioshock, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and I'd bet Dragon Age, though I don't have my copy), and a lot of them play a hell of a lot better on said platform.

PC gaming is dying. I neglected to include FPSes, because I don't really count them as games. That shit taints consoles, too.

Well yes that was part of the point I was making, that PC's and consoles share allot of titles. If the PC was dying so quickly then I don't think we would see that happening.

I don't deny that consoles hold the majority sales share, far from it. But there's still a very healthy release schedule for the PC over the next few years, with many superb unique and shared titles, both MMO and 'others'.

FPS aren't games? Well how convenient for you. There are probably several hundred thousand FPS players across all platforms that would disagree though.

Personally I think that one of two things will most likely happen. Either..

1. The Cloud Computing model will render both consoles and PC's irrelevant, we'll all be playing over thin client terminals. The new service thats currently in development called 'Onlive' is a good early example of this.

Brand new games with premium graphics on a netbook? Apparently its almost a reality and may go some way to explain why Nvidia are so busy trying to re-market their GPU's as GPGPU's.

2. Cloud computing will fail and eventually consoles will win the battle of the games machine. But in order for that to happen they'll have to adopt much of the functionality that the PC already has. They'll cease to be merely games consoles and instead become PC / console hybrid. Many people are already referring to the next generation of consoles as 'digital entertainment hubs', or some other such bollocks.

Consoles are basically specialized PC's anyway. The 360 being a prime example.

Personally I'd be quite happy to dump my PC as a games machine, if only I could play some of the new mmo's due next year and I could plug in and use a mouse and keyboard of my own choosing instead of the fucking awful game pads they force on people. I don't understand how you can play RTS or FPS on a game pad, and can you imagine EQ2 on a game pad?

Is the game cell-shaded? The screenshots I've seen it looks like it could be but it's hard to tell without seeing the game in action..

How does combat work, is it a proper FPS or something more like tabula rasa with over sized hit boxes and dice rolls for damage?

It's pretty standard fps. Everything has a weak spot that you aim for to cause maximum damage and get a critical hit bonus. Weapons with fire/burning damage proc annihilates every creature that doesn't use fire attacks.

When you die you sit down on one knee and your view slowly distorts as you have a few seconds to get a second wind which is gained by killing an enemy while in this immobile state or being resurrected by a friend.
If the timer runs out you get resurrected at the new-u station for a small monetary fee that makes no difference level 20+ because there is virtually nothing to spend money on at that point.

The most fun was the vehicle combat in the game and the alien weapons with unlimited ammo(pew pew pew pew!).
The boss fights are unfortunately very simple.

Just finished the 1st playthrough on X-box live Co-op with the same 3-4 players through the game, It's one of the best Co-Op FPS games out there but after watching my nephews try splitscreen I wouldn't advise getting the game for that. Navigating through the equipment and talent screens with half a screen is just horrid.
