Default Assassin's Creed II

Is it redundant as fuck like the first one was? By the time I got to the fourth mission I felt like I was still doing the same thing...

It does look more interesting this time, what with the ability to kill people with their own weapons and all.

I haven't played it yet but I'm going to say its probably not worth the purchase. I will most likely rent it, beat it, and never look at it again.

Its absofuckinglutely amazing. Seriously. I did really like the first game even through the gripes. I mean it was annoying to do the same side missions to get to kill someone. But I think it was a good game on the whole.

The second one they've totally gotten rid of all that bullshit. It's a lot more free flowing feeling. You're in a giant sandbox obviously. But the cities feel better. There is still a lot of foot traffic but people aren't as stupid and jumpy anymore and it's not packed with wall to wall people. So it feels very alive without feeling like a concentration camp or something. They added some different mini games that you can do whenever like courier missions, beat em up missions, and roof top races (think like spiderman the game, which I enjoyed the races a ton in). All of those are completely an aside to the storyline portion of the game. You don't have to do them if you don't like but you make money.

You can steal from everyone, you have money you use to buy medicine (health kits), new armor, new weapons, dye your outfit, etc. The free running feels more responsive than the first game. There are pickpockets in the city that can take your money (or other citizens) and then they'll start running off. You can let them go, or chase their asses down and murder them and get your money back. There are messengers in the city too who when they see you run like hell. Can let them be or chase and kill them for a nice chunk of money.

The story missions are straight forward. You'll have a place on your map that has the start of a "memory" you go there and you're set. No listening in on people for every mission or anything like that.

It's a fucking incredible game. Without a doubt the best action (I guess that's what it'd be) game I've ever played. Seems like its pretty long too, especially if you do all the side stuff. There still are some collection things (100 feathers, 6 assassin seals to get Altaire's armor) but I don't believe you need to do them for anything other than for personal fun.

I'm probably going to pick this one up, although I'm not sure exactly when... I did like the first game until I forgot what I was supposed to be doing lol

Biggest problem with the first game was the 2nd level... They started you off in lvl 1 with all the weapons, moves, and goodies... and lvl #2, they take ALL of it away and you can basicly just walk.

then it was the same exact thing over and over and over.

Oh, it wasn't that bad. Was kind of neat IMO to have to like fall back down to earth. Reminded my of Castlevania SOTN where you start off as fucking jesus on wheels and before you know it you're a gimp. But in AC1 that time went by fairly quick. Once you get the hand dagger who cares? That's all you need!

In this one you start off...hmmmm I can't remember if its with just a sword or with a sword and one hand dagger. But you end up with 2 hand daggers, a wide assortment of possible weapons, throwing daggers, the pistol. You haven't lived till you drop down on 2 guards and slam a knife through their minds at the same time. Plus you can just casually stroll up on them and stab them in the face at the same time.

Disarming you can only do from unarmed and the weapon you discard after you kill everyone with it. You can pick it up and carry it but you can't sheath it so, you can't climb with one. But the majority of weapons so far you can buy at the merchant and those ones you can sheath. The only one I don't know if you can buy is the broom.

PS: There are a few quick time events so be ready for em.
