Default helpful apps

This isn't the right forum, but I don't give a shit about other servers so here is something nice I found.

Download Defraggler from Defraggler - Defragment your files!

It's a sweet little defragging program that shows which of your files are fragmented (you'll notice a lot of your EQ2 files are heavily fragmented). I run it every day because it is much quicker than windows defrag and makes sure I'm getting those eq2 files unfragmented. I think it helps the game run smoother, but that could be placebic in nature.

I always run that right after Crap Cleaner. CCleaner - Home which gets rid of a lot of unnecessary temp files and things.

God I love CCleaner. Just wish I could run it on the server...

CCleaner has detected 3,948 "hardcore raid guilds" that have 4 people. CCleaner has deleted these. (Server runs fifty times faster!)

i use ccleaner before i leave my desk at work. if you go under advanced settings on ccleaner you can choose a higher level of deletion, i wouldnt do this, the 35 pass thing take a ridiculously long time by the DoD one isnt bad if you really want to make sure those files are good and unrecoverable (why am i almost sure this isnt the case)

NanoScan, instant virus scan isnt bad either if you feel like your pc might be coming down with something and you dont want to spend a long time running a full file scan. btw the last issue of pcmagazine had all these in the best 100 free apps.

Does it have a "Set it and forget it" option like Diskeeper? More than likely sticking with it unless any points can be made for Defraggler other than "Its teh Awesome!!!1!" (not to imply thats whats being said lol)

defraggler is free...

ive read good things about using diskeeper on high volume servers where shutting down or interrupting them to defrag can be impossible, i just cant see paying for it when your windows comes with a defragging program that you can schedule to run in downtimes or a free app like defraggler that you can run in a couple of minutes whenever you want to.

but then again, i use my pc for games, internet, word processing, spreadsheets only. im not doing anything that requires tons and tons of disk mgmt.
