Default Doing some research :)

Hi all. I've read a lot of posts concerning dps but I've not actually seen any numerical data. I was curious what an assassin should be parsing for EoF content?

I'm doing some research for my guild and I want to provide them with a quick reference as to what each class is best for and what their dps contribution should look like if they're spec'd for raiding. [Ie: I know some bards can get around 1300+ dps but it seems they have to spec for dps and thus not help their raid the way they were intended AND they cast all their buffs on themselves >_<]

hmm... Average DPS should be "at least" 2k zonewide imo. It can vary by zone and setup, betweek 2k and 3k. Spikes can be higher tho. With lag, shitty setup or loads of breaks in the raid, long fights and wipes zone-dps can go down significantly.

You can't really make a general statement on that, or at least I can't.

You're very correct. And this is a crappy question >_<

There's too many factors really for consideration... obviously raid setup..
do you have a bard in your group? dirge->melee troub->spellcaster

but the question is basically to find out what the 'range' is..

so the lowest number on the spectrum should be what an EoF assassin would do by himself with a crappy raid setup

So 2000[crap setup]-3500[amazing setup] ? Maybe?

player skill factors into that a lot as well as what the rest of the raid is parsing because higher raid parse = less time fighting which = higher DPS if you know how to run your CAs to keep a consistant level of DPS on every fight. If the raid is doing like 20k DPS, its doubtful youd get much over 2k even with a sick group setup. The players that parse 2500+ are in guilds that can get 25k+ raidwide. Basically what Ive found is that when I was in a good group in my guild, I avged roughly 8-10% of the raid DPS, sometimes as much as 12%, but rarely. That seemed pretty consistant and my DPS would fluctuate depending on how well the raid was doing. I cant recall ever getting over 3k over an extended amount of encounters without the raid DPS being around 30k.

That may be different for other people, but its something I noticed from my experience raiding. I could pretty well gauge what my zonewide would be by how high the raid was parsing on avg on trash and such assuming I didnt die or anything.

2000(crap)-3000(amazing) would be more accurate, very few assassins I know of can even get 3k zonewide or very many other classes for that matter. Best Ive done with a sick group was 2700 for the first 2 floors of EH and then I got switched to a shitty group which fucked the rest of the day. That was with around 25-27k raid DPS or so iirc.

Wait, how does a break in the raid affect your zonewides? I thought act only looked at the actual time you were in combat. Is that not right?

Raina, thats an interesting observation. I never thought of checking that. Does anyone have any idea why that is? Is it a matter debuffing the mob so everyone hits harder? I'm not sure that will hold true for me because I basically have 2 sets of people I raid with. With one group, I parse 4th or 5th on the list, sometimes as high as second, with the other, I'm top of the list always and on some fights double the #2 person. With the second group I tend to do higher raw dps too, but I think that might be because group 1 raids eof, and group 2 raids kos.

A break in raiding lets your spells refresh, therefore you will parse higher the next fight - even with the same combat time. If you're chain pulling like most high end guilds do, then your parses will be a bit lower.

Skill, gear, group setup, the raid setup, the zone, wipes, and how fast you pull all affect your dps significantly.

I would say a top raiding guild would expect their assassins to parse close to 2500+ with pretty good gear and good buffs on most zones where you can parse well. You shouldn't be below 2k on too many zones if you have a decent setup.

Good zones to test assassin parsing are FTH and MMIS, which have a lot of single mobs. EH is a little up or down depending on what mobs you have but there's a lot of trash to parse high on.
