Default Question about Getaway

Hello, I was wondering about this ability from anyone who has actually tried it.

It says it grants you Stealth and also prevents AoE, do you have to stay in stealth to prevent the AoE? Or is it an AoE protection for 30 seconds whether you stay in Stealth or not?

Also does it work for PBAoE's as well?

Seems like one of those could-be good ones but doesn't work like I would like it to.

Thanx in advance.

Its a stealth you can use while in combat. While its active, you have aoe immunity to non direct aoes.
I think.)

It works against all regular AOEs, but as mentioned you have to stay in stealth for it to be working. if you take any damage of any kind, it will break your aoe immunity. (Same as bladedance does) It's actually more useful as an instant stealth.

Yeah that is what I thought, just wanted to make sure. Thank you Jayad and Dayan.

The instant cast verse jousting could be useful but not sure if it's worth the AA points. It would be nice for Assassin tree to get some love because nothing is really good here.

Getaway is one of the better eof aa end lines though...thats not saying much

the insta stealth is nice, and very handy at times. concealment chain break, decap pops or killing blade pops...good to get them in, Cloaked assault too.

I find the ae avoid good for running into an encounter where there may be an AE firing off, that happens more time then you would think

Yeah its not bad, actually I would agree it is pretty useful. For me anyways, having decap and killing blade popping and needing this. Decap is on such a long timer and really only a 1 per fight CA, I almost always have something else up for it. Same with Killing Blade which I try to use every other Concealment chain (same with decap if its up because of hate loss). But yeah a instant stealth for a quick blast is nice.

Anyways beyond just another stealth, I see it as a second option to jousting which can keep you in melee range instead of running out losing time to DPS. I mean lets admit close range melee is where it is at for us. The instant cast, the decent refresh, and it puts you in stealth which after the AOE drops your right there to give the mob a nice kick in the ass.

Anyway thats where I see its potential. It could be a small but efficient step in the direction to make jousting obsolete for assassins. Which is pretty badass.

My issue is the points needed to get there. Murderous Focus and Exacting are definitely worth some points. Honed Reflexes, I am not sure. With the DW changes I heard haste is more needed then ever, but otherwise when are you not hasted?? Sprint, WTF? I guess SOE couldn't figure out something useful instead of this. <insert sarcasm> Deft Defense, ok for soloing (if your not fighting scrubs). So in the whole line 10 points max toward a goal. So the other half is sub par to get something that is somewhat good but not terrific.

Maybe I am missing something, I dunno.

Poison seems to be where it is at. Frontload is nice with Spikes, Hemo, and Apply Poison all are beneficial. I personally like attribute poison but thats not for everyone. So right there is 20 points to something worthwhile. Bleeding can be worth something since Impale and Assault are decent upgrades, but Excessive Bleeding is meh. MM if you not always raiding. Repeated Stabbing, OMFG!!! 4 of the 6 are useless against Epics, 1 is situational, and other is pretty nice. RS in my mind costs 10-15 AA points to get, and thats pretty pathetic. SoE could of at least made this one alittle nicer if that is the cost. Hopefully they will rethink this in the near future cause RS has its benefits.

Default Re: Question about Getaway

Right now I'm Getaway and Front Load spec'd (with the remaining points into upping the bleeding attributes).

I figured the AOE Immunity would be nice but I don't think i used it to it's full potential in my first raid using it.

I tried Repeated Stabbings for a few days (out of a raid environment) and I didn't really notice anything different, but maybe I was looking for the wrong thing. Will this just basically let me switch to auto attacking quicker after a CA?

Excessive Bleeding...oye - the way I understand it, each bleeding line would lower max HP by 5% - so theorically if the mob healed it would have a lower HP ceiling. Is that about it? Someone mentioned it impacting DPS by a lot, but I'm having trouble applying that - would it show up in my DPS number?

Repeated Stabbing lets you Chain CA's faster which is pretty good.

Excessive Bleeding is an "EFFECT". Its 5% for each Bleeding CA you have on a normal mob (less than heroic). 3% for Heroics, and 1% for Epics. As long as you keep Scraping Blow, Oozing Wound, Flowing Wound, Hidden Assault, and Malignant Mark on the mob its effective. Issue is Malignant Mark terminates after the proc expires which is really fast in a raid. Flowing Wound's duration is 6 seconds shorter than the recast and Hidden Assault is an even bigger Gap. So in a typical fight you'll have 2-3% of the health lowered. You wont notice a difference though since the effect doesnt show up in the parse.

None of the final 4 are really great but are pretty even. RS is useful and should be used, and Frontload is based on gear. If you got alot of procs than Frontload is a very powerful buff.

If your not using Getaway for the AoE immunity, I would say get rid of it.

I really like the insta-invis - i had times when i needed it, and times when i had cloaks up w/out CAs to use so that kind of sucked.

RS is still a mystery to me though - I didn't notice any differnce in chaining CAs together - at least not a major difference.

Cant see taking getaway over Exessive bleeding or repeated stabbing as a raider.
