Default Malignant Mark

This has probably been covered here before, but I can't find it. When you have 2 assassins on a raid, do their malignant marks overwrite each other? I was just studying a parse, and the other assassin had like twice as many hits as I did, and I think i cast MM every time its up, so I can't see what else would be causing that. I'm thinking its possible one of us was constantly casting right after the other because our CA orders are pretty similar. Our other dots do stack, right?

whoever gets it on first gets priority, the second guy will get a "has no effect" message. Since it triggers almost instantly you just have to click it again when it refreshes and it will stick. Its usually a non-issue, so imagine you arent using it as much as you think. The DoTs stack.

he might be getting jestered as well, being able to use mark 3 times in 40s beats twice for sure. Have a look and see if you are actually using it every 40s or so though.

Not to derail, but i have been seeing this message and something to the extent of "would not take effect" on mobs latly. I have noticed it alot with finishing blow. Has there been some change to the combat mechanic that is causeing this, or is it some kind of bug?

Only thing I could think of would be you arent behind the mob for Finishing Blow. It could also be that there is something proccing when you use Finishing Blow that is not taking affect. If you spam HOs and get Swindlers Luck it will say that when you already have Swindler's Luck on you and it has most of its time remaining. Finishing Blow can complete HOs.

You would have to really check through your parses to see if 1) Finishing Blow is doing dmg, if it is than it is something else triggering the message; and 2) to see what effects are being triggered and how often they miss. It could be that you have a proc that someone else also has and they dont stack. That could be really hard to find, you'll have to watch closely whats going on in your combat spam to see what might be causing that.

It could be a bug as well, I haven't had any problems with FB, but I dont play much right now and dont raid atm, so it may not have happened to me yet.

I just had another thought. Im not positive, but I think if you have effects or abilities that do no affect epics it will give this message when they are triggered. Spells like cheap shot that dont work on epics at all say "too powerful", but Im not sure about weapon procs and stuff that dont affect epics. It may not say anything at all, but its another possibility, like I said Im not positive on that one.

Sounds like raina said like the HO "problem". I keep getting this a lot too when spamming HOs.

I do get the 'no effect' message often, but I thought it was always from the HO. I have noticed that sometimes MM seems to refresh a lot quicker than other times. Maybe its not taking because his is already up and I just need to keep an eye on it and cast it again right away.

As for weapon procs giving a message if they dont work on epic targets ... I have had stupifying poison on during a raid before and I did NOT get any messages about the target being too powerful. So, i can't speak for any other procs, but that one at least wont give the message.

Speaking of HO's, is swindlers luck a group buff or single buff? If its single, who gets the benefit if you have 2 scouts in the group and one starts it but the other finishes it? Always been curious about that.

Who ever complets the HO gets the benifits.

Prob right will have to check back in my logs and see what was going on when it went off. Dint think about the HO causeing it if i had it up already.

Any chance you might be using finishing to finish a HO. I dont recall if this one can trigger swindlers, but I believe if swindlers is up on you a similiar message will appear.
