Default LF Soloing tricks, and strategies

I have an assassin alt that I made up a couple of years ago. Currently he's lvl 51. I leveled him essentially by 2 boxing with a friend's Zerker, by having the zerker hold aggro til I took 50%+ health, then burning it down with both toons. I know it's kind of cheesy, but at the time I was trying to level him as fast as I could so that I could wear the MC gear before the crafting change (June '06) went through.

Anyway, I am currently looking for suggestions, and strategies to make myself able to solo better. Currently I usually just sneak up and backstab a mob, and hope I can out last him afterward. I looked in the guides section of the forums, but there is nothing the for assassins.

Essentially what I am looking for is:
  • Hotbar setups - I currently have mine grouped by backstabs, buffs, debuffs, standard attacks, and ranged.
  • Fighting strategies - Methods of taking out mobs in a more efficient manner.
I have found more than enough information regarding AAs etc, and would appreciate any info offered. I am looking to group more with this toon, as well as raid some, but mostly it will consist of soloing, or 2 boxing.

Use defensive stance and either 1) start off with a backstab or neckshot (Assassin's shot at your level), then stun, jump behind it, use one of your attacks that puts you into stealth (e.g. Mask of Night, surveillance, concealment), then backstab again, or 2) get fettering poisons and kite the mob.

Assassin is best at soloing ^^ mobs or lower. Triple-ups have a lot of hitpoints, and assassin is not well-suited for a long fight.

For your hotbar setups... I have all of my backstabs in one area and things like surveillance (attack that puts you into stealth) beside them. They're on my second hotbar, so whenever I want to do some backstabs, I know where to look to check if any are up.

Kiting is your friend if the mob hits hard.

If you are gonna go toe to toe with a mob, (kiting is a better and safer method), use stupifying and Vitality breech in Def and you should have no prob.

If your computer doesn't suck like mine you may even be able to take advantage of the stuns from stupifying, but I just ran it for the extra breathing room.

Hmm, stunlocks, FD, 50% heals, devastation fist, fear, mezz, etc ( the list goes on really )

Not hard to see which class(es) out perform assassins when it comes to soloing, sorry to say.

Try again though, this is funny. Assassins are good at taking down heroics, but so is any scout that can kite lolz. Saying they are the best is retarded.

Yeah we are probably one of the least effective. Ranger's are more effective with kiting than we are. Rogues have stuns and better Debuffs, and have some tanking skills. At least we are better than those measly bards though.

He was implying our class is most effective at taking down ^^ mobs or lower, while we are least effective at taking down ^^^ mobs. Therefor, our capabilities are BEST suited for the aforementioned ^^ mobs, not that we are the best of all classes at taking them down. Little reading comprehension goes a long way!
