Epic Weapon Question

This is probably a newb question that will get me laughed at. What does it mean, exactly, on the epics when they say the spell cannot be modified except by direct means?

I noticed that Flurry of Poison is not proc'ing near as often as my caustic. It runs from 1/4 to 1/2 as many procs in most zones. The only raid I went on where they were close to equal was an MMIS run. I'm not sure what happened in MMIS, either the fact they were green made a big difference, or I just kept forgetting to re-apply my poison.

Since they are both supposed to proc 1.8/min, I thought maybe the 'cannot be modified' thing includes proc percentages. But, it does not seem to include crits, and I just looked at mystic feedback, and its proc'ing even less than flurry.

What am I missing?

It means unless a spell specifically says increases proc rate of X item, then the proc rate cannot be affected. Basically things such as luck of the dirge or the templars blessings don't do shit for your epic's proc.

I'd like to know what caustic poison you're using. Cause mine has a 4.9 per minute base proc rate.

So, basically, yes, this is a noob question. And everyone else who answered without mentioning this is also giving noob answers. :P

(But, to answer the real question, as was already said: That simply means nothing will change the proc to do more damage or to proc more often unless it SPECIFICALLY mentions it- like a set piece bonus making it better, etc.)

I'm using Expert's caustic, but it doesn't matter, every poison I have access to says 1.8/min. What are you using? Maybe you're grouped when you seeing 4.9? I'll check next time I get a dirge to be sure.

When I initially read the thing, I thought it was only going to apply to damage increasers, or anything that might make the +8MC buff last longer.

Caustic should be 4.8 hoss. Your must be reading the wrong thing or suttin =/.

Actually I noticed the proc rate changes with weapon delay, which is weird, if you equip faster delay weapons in your mainhand the proc rate goes up, but I doubt it actually will proc more but /shrug.

Oro, you are at 4.8 and benji is at 4.9. Which is it? You are getting that number by examining the poison, right? While ungrouped? If not, who's buffing you? I don't think the proc rate changes with weapon delay. Has anyone else seen this?

If your caustic/hemotoxin/mental breach/vitality breach isn't at 5.0/minute with no weapons equipped, you have issues.

Yea it's weird because I re-checked again and now mine says 5.0, but I swear it didn't say 5.0 before, I really have no idea what could have caused this because I was solo both times. =/

Yeah, i just checked mine and it says 4.9 now. I'm ungrouped and the weapon in my main hand doesn't make a difference. Seriously, someone knows whats going on and when it changed. Can ya please let me in on it?

Oh, and sorry for doubting you benki, it will never happen again.
