Re: Assassin raiding DPS
So i've started raiding recently, and ive got a lot of questions regarding what cas i should start out with during a fight, what timers i should be watching, what kind of combinations that are best for dps.
Watch for Death Mark, and Stealth Assault. Concealment is our best combo but keeping Scarring Blow, Masked Strike, and Puncture Blade in rotation is helpful.
Is it worth it stepping back to use ranged cas?
Not really.
Also which belt is better, the sarnak utility or baldric of dizok warlord?
If you don't have another good haste item, Baldric is better.
right now i have my epic and the best gear from group instances along with manipulators hood as my only raid loot so far...what dps should i be hitting around in raids?
Depends on group, buffs, your equipment, raid dps. 10% of overall DPS is a good target though. Up to 15% if your awesome.

Re: Assassin raiding DPS
The first thing you're going to want to do is get your debuffs and dots on it, normally i open up with the following:
Deadly focus/Honed Reflexes on pull/exacting if its a 40 second fight or less.
Flowing Wound
Deadly Impale
Lucky Break > Constriction > Scarring Blow
Death Mark
Bladed Opening
Poison Combination
Mesh
From here it is relative to Dispatched. When Dispatched trigger sounds, initiating a Concealment chain is what i do as follows:
Disfiguring Strike > Concealment > Masked Strike > Pinpoint Blade > Stealth Assault > Jugular Slice > Moon Blade > Mortal Blade > Execute > Slate > Fatal Followup
Although when the stealth fixes go live i plan on breaking my concealment chain twice for auto attack. (Once if Execute and Mortal Blade are down)
Concealment > Disfiguring Strike > Stealth Assault > Jugular Slice > Auto Attack > Masked Strike > Pinpoint Blade > Moon Blade > Mortal Blade > Auto Attack >
Getaway > Execute > Slate > Fatal Followup
(If flurry or double attack is the last attack to hit, it wont trigger Concealment. In this case Masked Strike/Getaway, otherwise just continue.
Now 30 seconds after concealment or before Concealment you want to use Spy/Stealth Assault, and every 10 seconds Masked Strike and Pinpoint Blade, additionally you want to make sure your Death Mark and Baffle are always used when able in a reasonable fashion (Death Marks proc Agonizing Wound breaks stealth when it trigger currently and is fixed in the new GU, while it triggers very fast, you don't want to play the odds right before a concealment chain or stealth attack. You do want it to land during dispatch however, so try right after Fatal Followup and space it from there.
When you are filling in time between a Dispatched/Concealment you want to fill in the time as best you can to minimize your DPS sliding. Exacting is great for Lowering the recast and increasing DPS during this downtime. Your downtime is going to consist of the following abilities as there up. Pinpoint Blade/Masked Strike, Resourceful Weapon, Velium Strike, Flowing Wound, Deadly Impale, Lucky Break > Constriction > Scarring Blow, Death Mark, Bladed Opening, Poison Combination, Mesh, as well as Spy/Stealth Assault, and Baffle, (Death Blow if you have enough time to consume the reuse prior to the 20% mark, and obviously again is the mob is at or below 20% and the reuse is up)
So its basically rinse repeat from here. Keep in mind that abilities like Jester's Cap and Ritual of Alacrity during Concealment condense the downtime substantially.
Jousting raid target... Resourceful weapon/Mesh as you back out, then Ear Shot, Spine Shot and Deadly Blast also a good time to use power regen items, deagros and making sure your Burynai illusion is still active. As for backing out just to use your ranged CA's it is in no way beneficial to your dps. Don't fit the situation to the ability, fit the ability to the situation.
If you don't have a combat parser currently you should get one.

until you get your mythical, hell yes it is! if youre properly timing it, you dont even loose a melee autoattack to that (only have to step 3m back)

Re: Assassin raiding DPS
Realistically, if you're at exactly 5m, you don't have to move for melee or bow on most mobs.

Re: Assassin raiding DPS
ya but you wont do melee auto attacks from there iirc (but you could combine EVERY CA with a "/autoattack 2" macro, which is extremely handy on VS and ptasa)

Re: Assassin raiding DPS
Get a bow like Vexthorne with a 1 meter min range. That way you will be able to get off both ranged and melee autoattacks without moving. Thou I generally find that I will lose some dps by using bow unless I get lucky and get a rda.

Re: Assassin raiding DPS
Yeah I think mixing in ranged attacks (unless you have to joust) will have you leaving dps on the table.

Re: Assassin raiding DPS
Depends on your double attack v ranged double attack, procs, etc. The real issue is knowing WHEN to use those bow attacks instead of melee, seeing as it increases your auto-attack timer even if you swap back to melee.
