Default Survivability Problem

I (not so) recently rolled an assassin, and with my sparse play times, finally got up to level 72. I solo'ed pretty much the whole time with an occasional group here and there. I was actually excited to get to the RoK solo quest lines, as my AA points needed the extra push (100AA currently).

As soon as I got to the new areas (level 68, I believe) I found that mobs were pwning me, so I switched to defensive stance, and started wearing the quested gear, thinking the agi would help my avoidance. My survivability never changed from the T7 Mastercrafted (Melodic for str and int). I have an alt jeweler so all of my skills have been adept III up to level 70.

So, question for you all... Is it worth upgrading to Mastercrafted T8 armor, or should I just put up with the deaths for now, and wait for better gear to come from the quest lines? Or is there any better advice you could give?

Yes the MC t8 stuff is pretty good. I like the melodic chain. But, for survivability when I was doing those quests, I always used enfeebling, vitality breach, and stupefying poisons, and put on all of the gear from quest lines that proc'd heals.

I solo'd all the rok solo quest lines.
I went with the T8 MC with sta because of the huge increase in hp helped. for grouping you'd want the melodic. Also try getting into coa and other instances as soon as you can. stun items are nice to have as well but I pretty much would kill the mob within 20seconds. cheap shot + point blank shot help - I didnt bother with def. stance.
If you aren't specced retarded, its a cake walk. they hit harder in rok, pre rok I wouldnt even pay attention to kill shit.

Oh yeah, and we can kite in RoK too. So, if you've ever wondered what it was like to be a ranger .... sit on a buttplug and spend a night kiting.

I'm speced Str and Agi all the way down, and Int to spell Crits. I maxed Crits in all 3 trees. Assassin Tree, I'm down to Excessive Bleeding, with cheap shot and the root CA maxed. Not retarded, is it?

Str+Sta+Agi gear more useful than the Str+Agi+Int? Maybe half and half it? I don't want to find myself dealing with low dps and high HPS if I do end up in a group.

yeah, your pred. tree is good.

I guess you can half and half it...but really you just solo to at least 77 and then do instances...with the 10000s of solo quests, its really the fastest way to level.

Plus T8 MC is like 20-50gold each anyways, doesnt hurt much to buy both sets.

If you can't kill the mobs in a few hits, kite. Period.

We aren't meant to stand toe-to-toe with mobs for long.

Or spec Smokebomb until you don't have to solo anymore - I used to use it when I was required to have it some time back, and it really did help if more than one mob was on my ass(assin).

Pop SB, get 4 secs to kill one of the 2 mobs, kill the first, root the other one w/ Velium Strike after, jump back and range him until he breaks, then stun him and kick the shit out of the second one.

I gotta stop drinking, but yeah - Smokebomb, despite the stigma, is actually useful in a lot of situations. If you're in the position where you're raiding and trying to maximize dps, it's not what I would use, but for soloing or even in shitty groups, it's great.
