i don't think it caps at 1.45 (and why does that make 50%???).
I have 1.45 default as dirge on that ability and when im grouped with a troub, they stack.
will have to take a look though when i get online
p.s. bards have a 10% crit mod thing if u didn't realise that's what i was referring to

The base crit mod is 30%. So I'm guessing the caps are based on that. 100% of 30% is another 30% crit mod. 50% of 30% is an extra 15% crit mod.
Follow my math now? Its also possible they would use the amount of the damage roll as the basis for the cap. I just don't know. I don't have the time to figure out how to test it.

aye that makes sense, but improving by 10% from my buff increases by 0.1, so it's the actual %age rather than %age on top of current crit mod...
My mod is 10% and I have 5 AA in it making it 1.45 rather than 1.3.

meh, base crit mod is 130%, you do 130% of the damage you would have done had it not been a crit, making a 50% cap at 195% or 1.95 (yup, worked that out all on my own, pretty good) and 100% cap at 260% (...um...2.60...phew)
that would make more sense to me as 1.45 is absolutely not the cap, [5% crit mod for any ability at all from aa] + [any bard] would cap it, making it a pretty silly stat to be throwing on everything if the cap was so low.
If its what i said ^ then a 50% cap could be reasonable.

crit is actually the max hit multiplied by crit mod. FI if your weapon hits with DPS mod for 800-1000, and you have 1.3 crit mod, your weapon would crit for 1300 all the time.
and also, for some reason 2 bards don't stack any more on that buff (they used to :/ meh).
as for increasing the mod by %age, having 50% crit mod would put it to 1.8 not 1.95... as I said, it's definate not relative.
Nobody I know has managed to cap it, but that's mainly due to the fact that iirc you can only get like 35% max neways? Bard + Legs (on illu iirc, or coer i forget) + AA + other crap...
This is what makes the choker so good though... FE if you have no choker, you do 1.0 on normal and 1.3 on crits... wearing choker though, you do 1.1 of what you used to do and 1.43 on crits (although in effect all it has done is increased your base and then your crit mod is done AFTER that not before... otherwise you would be able to do normal hits higher than crit hits :S). You still stay at what is seen as 1.0 and 1.3, but if you parsed it you are actually hitting 1.1 on normal (which is hard to check as it's variable) and 1.43 on crits, rather than 1.3.
As I said, I will keep an eye out for anyone who is crit mod capped, will ask in guild too... But base spell/CA damage mod %age is more important than crit mod unless you have that capped also.

No its not. A crit hit is your damage roll multiplied by 1.3 (or whatever your crit mod is). If that number is less than max damage +1, then its increased to max dmg +1. But critical hits do vary. They are not always max damage X 1.3. On your imaginary weapon there, if you were about to hit for 800, but it critted, you would now only be hitting for 1040.

Its pretty easy to get 1.45 evidently. Maybe the bards appear to not stack because with a coercer and 1 bard you are capped? At any rate, I don't even know a coercer with the set legs, so I can't test anything out.

aye
i didnt mean having 50% mod, i meant the mod capping at +50% of its original value ie 1.3 + 0.65.
so by +50% i meant 65% crit bonus  .
i was surprised when you said the bards stacked in the first place, wouldnt expect to be the case at all tbh, so i dont think it's odd that they dont 'anymore'.
maybe they never did and you had something else /shrug.
tbh...
i've totally forgotten why it matters what the cap is anyway...?

I think we were just speculating where it was and whether anyone had managed to hit it yet. I bet a lot of us will be at cap by the next expansion. Wherever that cap is.

ahh makes sense Jambox, and yeah i was just half asleep at the time of that post (was at work :S)
It did stack once, I remember having 2 up in group... not too long ago - maybe it was just an uncommon bug... Like both putting up @ exact same time does it or something, idk.
but yeah it's just speculation... if it is 1.95 then nobody is getting it any time soon... I think max you can actually get in game atm is 1.75 so meh :/
