Lets see, what all did you miss ....
-The added intelligence will increase the dmg of the poisons and all other procs.
-Poison combination is a poison debuff which will increase your damage too
-Poison Debuff also does more damage than spinning spear IIRC
-I realize you were trying to keep the math simple, but in a raid we are never solo. In the mage group, I'd be using hemo, in my normal group I have a couple of proc increasers.
On the other hand
-Not every encounter has multiples
-We have no reach, so noob tanks have to keep the mobs close to each other for surrounding attacks to do any good (I was just bitching at our offtank for this last night)
In short, its far from cut and dried, and the biggest variable is and always has been "How many aoe encouters do you actually have?"
At least with the poison line, those abilities are working for me 100% of the time on every single pull.

28 Intelligence? mother fucker im respeccing! Anyway does int still even effect procs and poisons anymore? don't think it does like.
EDIT : Doesn't matter how many encounters there are for 7.5% health to effect you, just sayin'
EDIT2(lol) : Hoss, how much you getting out of hemo (name the fight) btw? because i want to see what 16% of that actually is, so that the math is still simple, but its an actual example rather than a made up theory.

What does it matter how much hemo does? The point of that bullet was that he wasn't taking a lot of things into account. Instead of me looking for a hemo parse, lets go to one of your posted parses and look at how much more it could have done. The last one you posted you did 463 in caustic dmg on switch, and 653 on the name after him (neither is an aoe fight, so the caustic parses were not inflated by proccing on multiple tagets due to surrounding attacks). A 16% bonus to that would have been 74 or 104, not the 13 he calculated. In the mage group hemo normally does 500ish for me zonewide, so your number is close enough for our purposes. BTW those numbers are not taking into account the extra damage you'd get from the poison debuff.
So yeah, haitch's stuff was a made up theory, we both agree on that, and thats all I was commenting on.
Oh and yes int still affects procs. It doesn't affect mark anymore, that may be what you're thinking of.
Edit: Oh and another thing, if you use his flawed theoretical calculations, no one should be getting more than 85 dps from caustic. Because 1031*4.9/60 = 84.198

Its true that it isn't all cut and dry, yes... We're only just starting to get into TSO raiding really, just killed snake last week. I'm 95% geared WOE/instance/shard so nearly all the content I'm against is group encounters. Positioning can be a pain in the ass but I generally have a decent tank/I position myself to do the most damage when the auto attack goes off. Also hemo procs off the AE auto attack and I'm pretty sure you'd get more than a 16% increase from having it ticking on 4+ mobs.
As for poison combo, it's a decent debuff true... our other assassin is int and I'm regularly 4k+ up on him, with my primary doing like I said 1 - 2k more. Considering he's usually got the illy setup with haste I'm pretty sure that's saying something about the sta line really.
Not every fight will be an AE fight, but I'd go sta even without the AE just for the health, like dona said it DOES help you take a hit without a doubt, and the more AEs I can soak up the better imo.
[Edit] And yea, the calcs are very basic, not taking into account frontload or temp/dirge buffs plus the multitude of other buffs that we get... If someone can come up with some convincing math that takes all this into account that'd be cool... parses too.

Honestly, if you're up on him by 4k, there is more going on than your AA specs. Like maybe he's got 100 aa to your 200? Just a guess. Or maybe he is retarded. I get to raid with another assassin sometimes too who is always neck and neck with me. So sometime soon, I'll get a pretty good side by side comparison.
Since the day TSO launched, I used a sta spec for heroic instances, so you don't need to tell me the virtues of it in these heroic zones.

Just out of curiosity. The 4k difference, is that like you're doing 16k and he's doing 12K or like you're doing 10K and he's doing 6k?

Ok, so i check through all these babling posts..can I get a clear discription on what to put the points in? I have never had an alt and my main is a bruiser (for the time being) and I am pretty much clueless as to where to put them. I want him rdy to jump in for raiding when I get him to 80, so prefer opinions from a raiding assasin....and no I didnt read all 800 pages, as most are people bitching at someone else for some shit they posted, and the stickied doesnt seem to have been updated in awhile...thanks in advance!
