Sod + GDoH is probably the best atm. Unless you can get 450 slash and 450 pierce at the same time. Then I would go with SoD + BS.

I cant see why you would say that. It was a good idea before when there were no other piercer and we had to use it in main hand, thats not the case now because we have the soulfire. For the off hand its not that big a deal to have a slasher and BS should outparse your GDoH even with the shittier to hit% and it has crits and better stats to go with it. . . at 450 pierce and 450 slash it wouldnt even be a contest.

GDoH is only better for the 100crit miracle.

Few parses ive seen, BS has done around 100 - 200 more dps than the GDoH

Id go with Soulfire Sabre and Bisected Sabre if i had the Sabre of course...

Here is the reason, I am usually in the MT or OT group.

If you check your parser, you will notice that you are hitting 5-10% less with slashing. Just because there isn't as much +Slashing mod in game atm. At least that's what my parser is telling me.

And 5-10% couple with Crit makes GDoH a better choice than BS. I will see if I can find some parse to show my point. Unless you have Dirge mod + Warden Mod which should put you at 450 slashing.

I always think this gear stuff is over rated. the difference between top end group weapons to mid fabled to the best of the best, is really not that large.

considering most of our damage is by CA anyway.

my best parse to date was down with group weapons and I have had some good fabled for a while.

C/A cycle, group set up and timing is > by far then minor weapon differences.

these types of talks are over pennies I am more concerned about the 10 dollar bills.

Uhm say what? The top end weapons are so much better, especially with good haste/dps buffs. Like hundreds of dps better. The top weapons you can get from grouping are not nearly as good as the GDoH, BS, pickaxe, and soulfire.

A lot of pennies are what makes a great dps versus a merely average one.

I think his point is that skill (read:experience, timing, etc) > gear and he's right. However, that said once you reach a certain point, gear becomes the only avenue of improvement. Group make-up will always remain paramount, but thats beyond what an assassin can worry about individually. Even now, I have gotten to the point with experience and gear that I can certainly be in the top few in dps with even a below-average group make-up.

Well, I'm not talking about when you're still learning Who cares about that? Your gear makes a large difference between okay gear and really good gear. Especially your weapons with the right setup. Like, hundreds of dps difference!

I am like the biggest anti slashing junkie out there and i am gonna tell you that you are wrong. . .

First of all, yes, piercing is important, but its only important for main hand so you can have your CAs land and auto attack land for proc which only proc with main hand.

Second. . . For the offhand its good to get a piercer to add some more +piercing with an adornment, but with the BS thats irrelevant because it has crits that are even better then the +piercing you could get with a piercing weapon AND it outparces the GDoH any time of the day even with alot lower tohit% which in reality is like 5%, if that.

And thirdly, the better ratio on the GDoH to have it even come close to the type of damage BS does you are gonna need like 90-100% crits and then it will only be as good as BS with shittier stats.

I disagree completely.

Here is the reason. IF you are hitting 5%+(Which I am with 460 pierce and 440 slashing) less with slashing that is a lot more then what the weapon can possibly compensate.

38% Crit

BS 65-196 4sec + 2% Crit
GDH 23-205 4sec

Assume 100 Swings at 100% hit rate and 38% Base Crit percentage

60% * 100 Swings * (65 to 196) + 40% *100swings (197 to 197 *1.5)
=60%(6500 to 19600) + 40%(19700 + 29550)
=(3900 to 11760) + (7880 to 11820)
= (11780 to 23580)

Medium dmg is = 17680

62% * 100 Swings * (23 to 205) + 38% * 100swings (206 to 205*1.5)
= 62%(2300 to 20500) + 38%(20600 to 30750)
= (1426 to 12710) + (7828 to 11685)
= (9254 to 24395)

Medium dmg is = 16824.5

Now 16824.5/17680 = 95.2%

As I stated if you are hitting 5% less + with slashing you are better off with SoD + GDoH.
