To the Russian person creating new accounts every day: KNOCK IT OFF

For the past month and a half, someone from Russia has been creating at least two new accounts on this site every day, and those accounts have all been made for the purpose of advertising porn sites in the user note fields.

This is obviously done for the purpose of increasing the Alexa scores or search returns on those accounts, since this site is indexed by all major search engine spiders.

But what you apparently don't realize, dumbass, is that I've deleted each and every one of those accounts the same day you've made them.

You are wasting your time and mine. Please knock it the fuck off.

By the way, all of those accounts have been created using a different proxy/socks IP, so it doesn't do squat for me to ban the IPs. 90% of the accounts have been created using a mail.ru email address for registration. If this doesn't stop soon, I'll have no choice but to ban people from registering on this site using a mail.ru address.

Just ban mail.ru regs dont spend your nerves on this.. Those who are really interested in the content of this forum will reg another adress on another host easily.

On second thought, Niber, please set the member list to be non-crawlable by spiders so it won't be indexed by search engines, that will defeat the purpose and then hopefully whoever is doing it will stop.

Is there anyway to make it so you can only make 1 account per ip? Like if you have 1 and try to make another it does not let you?

that system is called CAPTCHA, and people are constantly coding work arounds for their bots. Hence, I said update it!

The system already does that. When someone attempts to register from a IP or personal computer previously used to register an account on this site, instead of putting the account in the "registered users" group, it dumps them into the "users awaiting moderation" group. Then I look at those accounts and end up deleting most of them. I deleted 10 such accounts yesterday that were attempting to register for the contest.

I'm cool with multiple people in the same household registering, that is not the issue. But I need people to send me a PM when that happens so I know they aren't trying to get around the Site Rules that prohibit multiple accounts.

No worries bud, it will only affect new registrations, or if someone tried to change their email address to mail.ru after they already registered. If you registered already using mail.ru, it won't affect you at all unless you try and change your email to a different mail.ru address.
