Default Things that make you rage hardcore, and what you'd do to fix them.

So after a night of hardcore BGing which almost ended in a fireball of keyboard-to-monitor awesomeness, I figured I'd make a post here to rant about the shit that pisses me off in BG's. Let some steam off before I go murder dozens of small puppies, you know?

Anyway, backstory. I'm an assassin. Gimp ass gear, but I feel like I do pretty well in spite of it. You won't see me on top of any parses, but I can hold my own. However, I rage hardcore in PVP. Fuck is one of my most used words lately, and I probably have bruises on my hands from repeated /fistslam'ing. It's the only thing in the world that can piss me off. No joke. Nobody I know IRL would believe that I even know how to get mad. Haha. Anyway...

Battlegrounds are screwed up. No doubt about it. If you don't agree, you are probably, A: a Shadowknight, Paladin, Inq or Berserker. B: Fully PVP geared, and are essentially as tough to kill as one of the afore mentioned classes. Or C: Lying.

So here's what I hate, and what I would personally do to fix it, arranged by zone and including things in general.

Klak'Anon: Ok, so this one is pretty good, to be honest. It's the least messed up of the 3. Theres only a few things I'd change:

1: Relic Damage. It's pretty good to how it is, but I really think the relic damage needs to scale to 100% of HP after about 200 points or so. (1 Shot, no matter what) I mean, how many times have you gone in, the other team has 2 healers, and a shadowknight/paladin. The SK/Paladin picks it up, and after beating on them for a whole minute (Target locked 99% of the time, by the way. No go on killing the healers. Or anyone else for that matter) you just give up and try to pick off stragglers while their tank goes afk and makes dinner or something. They need to die so that the game mode doesn't become "Who can click the relic first?" = win. It would put everyone on a more even footing.

2: Distribution: Don't give all the healers to 1 side. Don't give all the "Good" classes to 1 side. My last time in Klak I was up against 3 healers, (Inq, Defiler, Warden) An SK, A ranger, and a brigand. The SK picked up the relic and was unkillable. The ranger 1 shotted our squishies. The brigand took a nap. We lost, ofc. Was so gay. Sony needs to add a "Oh, duh" thing to their queuing process. If one side has 2 healers already, don't give them the third one!

Smuggler's Den: This one isn't so bad either. I can live with it most of the time. Again, just a few things I'd change.

1: The Tower: God damn people who jump off. I mean, seriously? There are 10 of us up here. Why did you come up? You shouldn't even be allowed to run. Don't jump off. Pussy. 1 of 3 things need to be done. 1: Causing damage to someone breaks slow fall. (Didn't it used to be this way anyways?) 2: The tower just strips Slow Fall, or 3: Put an invisible wall around the top. I personally prefer 1. Nothing would make me happier than that stupid caster jumping off, eating an arrow, and going splat.

2: Solo Tower Defense. You know, the Shadowknight/Paladin/Berserker/Healer who sits at a tower they own, and just sits there, impossible to kill, till their team facerolls you after 4 or 5 minutes of beating away at them pointlessly? I mean, really. When I go up to take a tower with my 4 or 5 people I regularly queue with, and I see a proven "good" tank/healer class sitting there, it's not even worth taking. You can either sit there and try to kill them till they run out of power, or cap and run, and /sadface once they take it back 30 seconds later. Defending a tower needs to become something more than taunt, /afk. I can't think of any way to do this except to make capping the flag either a: Hugely buff the captors, or B: Majorly debuff the failed defenders. Also, stop respawning people at flags they don't own. If they want to take the flag back, they can fight their way there. Shrug.

Ganak: Fuck. Ganak. Whoever designed it should be tortured to death slowly. Ever so slowly. And painfully. It's horrendous. It needs to be completely redesigned.

1: Invinca-man holding the flag. This is how a Ganak round goes: Round Start. Team A picks up flag. Team B picks up flag. Flag Carriers run in circles, teams A and B fight it out for 20 minutes. Fucking GG sony. Someone liked PVP in WoW. Except in WoW, nobody sits at 100% run speed 24/7 and is harder to kill than a raid mob. Simple solution. If you hold the flag for more than 2 or 3 minutes (Maybe longer. Shrug), you die. Kaboom, end of story. Hopefully your allies can get the flag up before the other team scores. That, or make the flag apply a major debuff, so that you can actually kill the flag carrier.

2: The Flag Mechanic. It doesn't even need to be there. It's annoying. It means whoever has the toughest to kill player will win eventually. Just remove it completely. Make Ganak a kill fest. First to 100 wins. Easy enough. Agree/Disagree?

3: Run Speed. Holy. Fuck. Fae Warden/Fury picks up flag, you hit them with a 70% snare, proc a 60% snare poison on them, and they're still running at 100% because they're "Out of Combat" Seriously? God damn. I'm gonna recap this one later, but this makes me rage so fucking bad. Solution? You hit someone, they're in combat. End of story. I rooted you, stunned you, snared you, stifled you, beat on you for 15 seconds. Whatever. You should not be able to run away at full speed just because you never cast anything on me.

BG In General And then there's some things that apply to all of the Battlegrounds.

1: Run Speed. Oooh, fuck. This is my number 1: I snared you. You should be running SLOWER than me. Not faster. As it is, the game rewards the faggots who do nothing to help their team, because they can run ninja style in circles while we try to chase them down. Solution? If you're in a battlegrounds, your run speed <= 0%. No matter fucking what. Period. End of Story. Make snares max out at like 20%, to keep people from abusing snares with this. You'll be able to catch/kite people still, but not like it is now. Turning Autoattack on should not be the biggest self-snare in the game.

2: Target Lock/Forced Detarget. If the other team has 2 tanks, or 1 decent one, you can't target anything else, ever. That is fucked up as all hell. Sure, taunts themselves are ok. I dont mind being forced to target the tank for maybe 1-2 seconds, but 10? 20? 30? A whole god damned match where I cant target anyone else? Yeah. Fuck it. Solution: Add an immunity timer to taunts, like epics get for stuns and what not.

3: Godmode classes. If it takes 6 scrubs more than 1-2 minutes to kill you, you are included in here. 6 v 1, anyone should lose. Period. Solution? Cap mitigation, cap toughness, cap crit mit, make damage interrupt heals, get rid of steadfast in PVP, whatever it takes. Nobody should be borderline unkillable.

4: Tokens. I have 150 Klak tokens, and 10 Ganak tokens. Either make them exchangable, or change the system around. Let me spend my Klak tokens on something, damn. Even if it's 80-100 for 1 piece of gear.

5: Toughness. Toughness and PVP defensive stats, as they are, are unbelievable. My assassinate should hit that warlock for more than 1000 damage, I'm sorry. Pre-toughness, pretty much any class is killable. After it, scouts and mages become the new tanks, and tanks become the epic training dummies. With Swords... It needs to be changed. Cap it out at 20% or so. But take that 20% and add it in the last step of damage calculation. IE: I was going to hit the mage for 5k, he has 20% toughness, now I hit him for 4k. It makes it useful, but not amazingly powerful, as it is now.

Yeah, I'm whining. I'm pissed, it's 2 in the morning and I probably shouldn't even be thinking, let alone writing. But, point is, BGs are screwed up as all hell. They need to be majorly revamped. I figure I would throw my ideas in.

So, what about you guys? What pisses you off, and how would you fix it?

Some of these are valid points, while others are just things that will never be changed. You should direct some of the rage you have towards yourself for ever expecting Sony to make balanced PVP. It will never happen. I'm considering not doing BGs until they fix auto consume between zoning/dispels. That is my number one issue, I play a scout and get sick of toggling 19 different things that I need off then back on at the start of each match. Even when I do that, after a dispel many times they still do not re-auto consume like they should.

I agree with the running, flag/relic death and class distribution(I'm leaning towards a bg hub for this one)..
    Vulkan - 95 Paladin
    Fangbeast - 95 Beastlord
    Drriizzt - 95 Assassin
    Akuu - 95 Wizard
    Chancer - 95 Coercer
    Bloodvirus - 95 Troub
    Rattatta - 95 Bruiser

I BG'ed for a few weeks and I pretty much agree with what you've said.

The state of BGs really just shows that EQ2 is designed to be a PvE game and PvP is nothing more than an after thought to gain some subscriptions. I highly doubt it'll ever be balanced.

Holding a flag should lock you in combat till dropped and they should reset (both at once) anytime 1 flag is held for more then 3-5 minutes. 2 easy fixes that solve many of the ganak issues.

+1 for hitting someone enters them into combat. It used to piss me off running into ranged combat art range of the flag holder, snaring them 73% and then they start outrunning me. Now I learned I need to wait til I'm on top of them before I snare them. It would actually require ppl to work as a team to fight into the base and capture the flag rather than someone ninjaing it. Only problem with that though is I can see no one going after the flag and everyone just defending.

And the flag in Ganak should do damage maybe like 1/2 as fast as the gear and then the person self destructs after 5m so you can't just stack healers on a tank.

Toughness does need to be looked at, I refuse to do 90 bgs as it is just a tickle fight until one of you runs oop. 80's isn't as bad but it'll just get worse as time goes on, if a tank or cleric has a full set nothing short of a x2 is going to kill them in less than 60s, and to a lesser extent on mages and scouts.

I only enjoyed Gears of Klakanon. I actually stayed around because of Gears of Klakanon.

Ganak was a fucking joke from the start, the runspeed thing annoyed me from day one and I stopped queuing for Ganak because of it.

Smugglers was hardly played on SP/RE because of the limited amount of players queuing up for BG in that pool and when it happened it was really clear everyone just did it to get a token. Smugglers is too fucking big, you basically run in a clockwise circle or the otherway around grabbing towers and chasing the others while you put a well geared SK, 2 healers and maybe a lock at center tower.

Someone already said it and it really shows with BG, EQ2 isn't made for PvP.

I agree with the majority each of you have said, but throwing a snare on a healer with high WIS stands a good chance of getting resisted. You can snare people who are out of combat. When you snare you go to combat speed and their out of combat snared speed is still going to faster than your combat speed until they engage. And Furies have Pact of the Cheetah. PotC breaks all root and cannot be snared but only for max of 51 seconds. When this wears off, they are in combat. In the Druid tree all Furies can spec for 45% incombat run speed. 10% + self buff of 35% if I remember correctly.

most incombat run speed doesn't work in pvp.

    This.

PotC I imagine still dispels roots when cast, but they can be reapplied and it does enter them into combat and the in combat run speed does not work in pvp. Can still be particularly effectful though if someone else in your group has the flag since it won't enter them into combat.
