Emergency personnel were dispatched at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 to Old Highway 53 at Austin Drive to find a car up a wire. No injuries were reported in the incident.
According to Officer Todd Miller, who responded to the scene, the investigation led by the Clearlake Police Department revealed the driver of the vehicle, identified as Ronald Lowder, 48, of Clearlake, was traveling southbound on Old Highway 53 approaching Austin Drive when he drove off the right side of the roadway, causing the 1988 Nissan he was operating to drive up a guy wire of a utility pole. Neither Lowder nor his passenger were reported injured as a result of the incident.
Lowder was arrested by Officer Ryan Peterson for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was held in the police department's holding facility until he was determined to be sober; after which he was cited and released.
The incident resulted in a temporary power outage in the area of Austin Drive.
