Default Competition

So theres been alot of talk about competition. Rather than see it continue to pollute our progression thread that Iggy maintains, (Thanks Iggy!), I decided to start a new thread about competition.

It's been suggested that competition is awesome and great, and while I can agree with that, I will happily admit that I would soo much rather not have any competition at all, and have the luxury of pulling avatars whenever it happens to be convienient. I find that to be less stressful, and also has the least amount of risk of missing out on loot. I swear to god if we ever see the tenth stone of zen drop and someone else gets it I am literally going to go emo and cut my self like twenty times!

But imagine a world filled with contested... That could be interesting. Many avatars, all on their own separate timers would totally rock, so long as that type of situation ended up yielding more overall loot to everyone than before.

The big problem for me is the rarity of some of the avatar loot. Last expansion we never even got certain items... certain game breaking items like the Reinforced Slippers of Balance. Never disco'ed on bazaar. Because of fucked up rarity, any avatar that you DON"T kill, can potentially be an item you will NEVER EVER EVER see again. It's alot of pressure, and that is ultimatley the reason why I hate competition and risking the loss of avatar loot.

Tangrin at least has a small loot table, so if you get a few kills on him you are likely to get every piece he drops. I would love for contested mobs to get back to that old style loot table. Back when DH and EL competed in Kingdom of Sky, it was more thrilling. One of the major reasons why I enjoyed it so much was because if we happened to loose a contested, we knew we could make up for the lost loot another time. Loosing an avatar now can be catastrophic.

Another aspect of competition. The play nice rule. I've seen times where guilds played nice, and times where guilds did not. Most will agree that it is always better to play nice. The worst example of not playing nice was one time in Ascent of Awakened, where EL and DH were fighting over the mobs in there and had a HUGE dispute with GM's involved and everything. Basicly we all had to leave and the zone got changed into it's retarded state that it is in now. Playing dirty ruins the game for everyone. Weather it's stalling a mob, standing on top of others, or trying to cause major disruptions through other means it's a bad bad road that none of us should want to go down.

I'm no innocent either, as I"ve been a part of some of this but I'm just saying that it needs to stop. Lets all get back to a healthy spirit of the game. Lets treat each other with respect and fairness. I certainly want my guild to stay #1, but I want it to be on a server where everyone is playing nice.

Crabbok,

like i stated earlier in one of the other threads, i'm still having trouble discerning whether you are being genuine or not.

Regardless, i still agree with what you just said. Competition is healthy. Sometimes the fat cats sitting up at the top need a little exercise - hopefully DF can give you guys a good run for your money, if they don't and you still prevail, im sure it will make those kills even better for you. If DF takes over and starts consistantly killing shit, then you guys will have something to work towards.

Whatever the outcome its refreshing to see a guild who's relatively unknown WW come and give the #1 on their server something to keep them busy.

My guild on Guk ( doesn't even bother, we can't compete with NPU, TOD might be able to compete if they really were motivated, but they don't try either. NPU has total server domination, and they work very hard to keep it that way.

The bazaar still has a few avatars unkilled. Would really like to see DF get a server first on an avatar, would add some weight.

I don't know anyone in EL, cept from in game and from here just bystander chat. I do know the DF peeps, and they're good peeps who want to get a slice of avatar action, they're motivated, driven and their leadership is solid, well thought out and know whats needed to compete.

Crabbok - I hope you are sincere, and i hope you fight till your dying breath to keep your guild in the #1 slot, because DF is hungry for blood. I'll see you on the battleground.

I agree, play fair... Go pull for pull and winner takes all.

Contested are not contested with no competition. No different than instanced content if there is noone fighting you for it. That's not fun to me. The shared loot table is really stupid IMO. You get guilds trying to force spawn easier avatars and why not? Same loot for killing flame as you get from killing Justice.

That's understandable, but I fail to see what could be taken as being false. I did say that I'd prefer to kill avatars at my leisure, and that I don't wanna loose any loot... heh!

And my motives for peace are not so high and mighty, in fact they are selfish. You see, I view any dirty nasty fighting, as something that is only going to hurt me. If we play dirty, then you will most likely retaliate. If you play dirty, it might somehow botch our pull and maybe we loose a kill.

Playing dirty hurts everyone, so it's actually in my best interests to encourage fair play and honesty. I may not be all "WOW OMG GRATS!" in shout... because I will be butt hurt if we witness you kill another avatar, but I am sincere in wanting fair play.

I was just apprehensively waiting for the 'old "hahaha n00bs, want to fucking play nice QQ some more douche-bags".

I agree, dirty shit doesn't help anyone. Hate was a good example of that.

You could always come and join DF crabbok ;)

I stopped reading after this... You are the ugliest girl in leather pants I have ever seen. Did you really just say you would rather have no competition?!??!! Never leave the bazaar as a matter of fact anyone who believes this should delete there characters and go play Hello Kitty online adventures or better yet.. Go play a game that doesnt have contested mobs there are PLENTY of them. (WoW would be a great example of a game where the contested doesnt really matter.)

THE ONLY REASON YOU WOULD PLAY EQ2 IS FOR THE CONTESTED MOBS FUCKER.... This game is so fuckign outrageously bad compared to WoW... Besides regurgated shit content contested are the only thing that make eq2 what it is...

I have lost all faith in you... Waking up at 3am to kill a mob when you have to be at work at 9:00 is how you fucking roll. I wish I could delete your account and save you from this horribleness.

Can all the other members in EL that agree with Crabbok please post here?

I want a tally.

I honestly dont care either way. Ive finally figured out if you stop really giving a fuck what happeneds you tend to not burn out in a month.

On a side note, I see all this talk about Hate this and Hate that. I understand it was pushing kinda BS what happened with that. People are saying thats where it started this and that. First time i can recall shady shit was when some how some one pulled all the epic mobs outside of CMM room onto our raid then FDed on the adds group with carpets out. All in all it doesnt matter really. Views will be differnent cause we are looking from different points.
