I found the best way to level warders is to solo SOH in def stance, turning off auto attack as it activates when you cast an advantage.
It can get boring, but you can actually see the bar move per mob kill compared to killing lots of heroics in the hole etc.

Then once you've blasted through all the trash in SOH you can take on some of the names.
Master P is awkward but what I did was get a merc out for him and then it's cake.

VP also isn't too bad if you want to do the same thing with trash grinding and there is a lot of trash in there =)

I call bullshit on that. If that were actually true I could blast my way through Chelsith killing 80+ mobs and see the bar move per mob kill, but I've done Chelsith recently and it's as slow as Maulic's or I bet any other place you name.

If the point is to level warders why would you waste time killing names? Kill all the trash, zone out and do something else FTW.

    Lol what's up with you.

Just saying what i've been doing - it was part of a farm run and I thought, I wonder if I just spam more advantages I get more XP off the trash.
Try it for your self and eat my "bullshit" kind sir and be less grumpy ^_^

Also reason I was turning off auto is that to start with I was just killing the mobs normally and the bar wouldnt always seem to move.
But with more spams it seems to with every mob kill rather than every maybe 2nd I think it was.

yeah I figured that out For some reason I thought It dumped something into the log. Ooh well. It does look like 50% of the way through the pet bar is master and I had exactly 900 affinity messages. Makes me guess that it takes about 1800 to feral.... anyone else getting the same results?

So the amount of affinity your pet gains isnt constant with every kill? Its based on the mob? i thought killing loads of mobs was the best way

I modded the pet window to show a numeric value for warder affinity. It's on eq2interface (if you try it, make sure to select your current warder in your persona window or it won't update).

The progress bar value is a percentage, so a 1000 point scale (really 0.000 to 1.000). You can get up to 3 affinity per mob (0.003 or 0.3%). Some are less, and there are probably hidden fractions that I can't see. On that 1000 point scale your warder will level around 85 (adept), 224 (expert), 414 (master), 668 (grandmaster), and 1000 (primal). Those numbers may be off by one or two but whatever.

Yellow single down arrow mobs were just as likely to give 3 points as yellow ^^^'s.
You only get affinity when a mob dies.
If your primal or advantage kills the mob, it doesn't count.
If you cast on a mob other than the one your warder opened the weakness on, it doesn't count.
If you're out of range of the mob and use a ward, it doesn't count. Make sure you're close enough.

Sometimes, even when it seemed like I was doing everything right, it didn't count. There may be a hate component, yours or your warders, I'm still not sure.
