Not sure how much leveling warders has changed but it still seems brutally slow. I rolled a beastlord about a week ago and I ding'd 93 last night. So far leveling with one warder at a time to cap I've only managed to level 3 warders to the end in this time period. granted a lot of my leveling was PL'ing through stuff so I get that I won't gain affinity every mob that goes down but still is hell slow.

So quick question on this.. Should I stop XP at 94 to level up my exotics, or are they not effected by vitality? I know when leveling your last AA's it's best to stop at 94 until you're done, but not sure if warders suffer the same issue. I have to get at least my 4 exotic warders to cap and at this rate that's not going to happen before I ding 95.

Yes, it is really slow. There are a few tips on the previous page in this thread that might help. I don't know if they level up easier at 94 or lower levels. I leveled my BL to 95 first with one warder and then had to grind out the rest. At 95, it was one affinity per mob kill at the lower levels of the warder to where it took 3 kills per affinity at the last 300 points or so.

What I did to grind my last few warders (that I wanted) to get their GM abilities was jump into the XP Bliss Shorter dungeon and just grinded in spiritual stance. My hand/wrist hurt for a few days after all that was done. In case you didn't know, you don't have to grind every single warder class up to GM; but you do for the abilities you want.

Thanks, I would like to get all 4 of my Exotics up if nothing more than having some variety and the Primal versions have noticeably better stats than say Journeyman. I have yet to do a straight up warder grind, but will need to give it a try chrono'd down. I've just been working on quests making sure it procs a weakness and I use an advantage on the same mob as much as possible.

This is the part that has me confused.

You can get up to 3 affinity per mob (0.003 or 0.3%). Some are less, and there are probably hidden fractions that I can't see. On that 1000 point scale your warder will level around 85 (adept), 224 (expert), 414 (master), 668 (grandmaster), and 1000 (primal). Those numbers may be off by one or two but whatever.
So does this mean that warder XP is actually a fixed value regardless of Vitality etc of the Character? Or has this changed? In the log it will say for example:

"You Gain 100 XP for defeating this encounter and 200 XP from bonuses"
"Your affinity with your warder has increased"
"You gain 24 XP for defeating this encounter and 48 XP from bonuses"

I always assumed that second XP message was the warders XP, but maybe it's something else? It's the "Bonuses" part that actually concerns me as you don't gain vitality at 95. If that second line is in fact the warder's XP that would lead me to believe I should level lock at 94 until I have the warders I want leveled up.

Install the pooka BL warder affinity pet window and you'll see what I mean.

The progress bar value is a percentage, so a 1000 point scale (really 0.000 to 1.000). You can get up to 3 affinity per mob (0.003 or 0.3%). Yellow single down arrow mobs were just as likely to give 3 points as yellow ^^^'s.
You only get affinity when a mob dies.
If your primal or advantage kills the mob, it doesn't count.
If you cast on a mob other than the one your warder opened the weakness on, it doesn't count.
If you're out of range of the mob and use a ward, it doesn't count. Make sure you're close enough.

Sometimes, even when it seemed like I was doing everything right, it didn't count. There may be a hate component, yours or your warders, I'm still not sure.
In regards to Pooka's post, I was getting affinity when I was using an advantage and killing a mob in one hit so IDK if this isn't the case anymore.

Is there a minimum level your BL has to be before the warders can gain affinity?

My BL is 22 and I'm stuck at zero on all 9 of the warders I've tamed so far. I read every post in this thread, and installed pooka's mod, hit 'c' (taht's what is meant by the persona window, right?) and set the pulldown in the warders tab. I select a mob, click the red-crossed-swords "ask the pet to attack" button, it sees a vulnerability, I click Flurry of Claws, the mob doesn't die on that blow, but when the mob is finished off nothing happens. I've done this a number of times for each pet. I don't ever see any messages about affinity, and I got a big goose egg in my brown bar for every pet.

From EQ2Wire's Guide to Beastlords: http://eq2wire.com/2011/12/07/beastlords-frequently-asked-questions/

NOTE: Warders do not start gaining Affinity until your beastlord reaches level 30.
