That may be dependant on the UI you use as well. For Drums, the bar move to the right and never resets. I highly recommend fighting somewhere witha group of mobs. Be in defensive stance and minimize any damage your warder will do. Keep the option to use your wards. At first, use your heal and kill whatever mob you initially were targeting. Wait until you cast your ward to kill the next. If you kill something without doing so, you will get no affinity from it. So it will basically go heal, kill, ward, kill, ward, kill... for each group. Make sure you either use singular focus or take off all AE damage stuff to keep from killing mobs too early.
