I just started playing a beastlord a month ago, but I am pretty sure the ward you were spamming is an advantage.

Based on my own personal observation and experience so far, a single target advantage is not necessary, as long as you use an advantage directly on a mob in which your warder has targeted, your warder gains affinity(how much, seems to be random). also, doesn't matter which advantage you use or even if the advantage creates the killing blow. The easiest way to be sure, is just to assist your warder.

as you all know, you can't use an advantage anyway unless the paw is up.

I've used DDs, DOTs, AOEs and even wards that do no damage and all have gained my warder affinity as long as it was on the same mob my warder had an exposed weakness on.

Your warder has a chance to gain anywhere from 0 to 3 affinity per encounter. A primal or advantage must be used on the encounter in order for your warder to gain affinity. I don't know if the primal or advantage has to damage a mob in the encounter or not, but I'm about 99% sure that it doesn't matter what mob the primal or advantage hits, as long as it hits. In other words, idk if the spiritual group ward works or not.

3 mobs in linked encounter 1-2-3, i am targeting 1, paw comes up, I use the green or blue advantage, 1 dies i get 'your warder infinity increased', kill 2 - 3 without using another advantage you will not get the increased affinity message.

spiritual group ward does work as long as you are directing it (targeting the mob directly or assisting warder) at the mob in which your warder got the exposed weakness on ( the paw)

I did some investigation and it works even different way.....
If you pull, let say, 2 different encounters, for example 1 orc and 1 falcon, and your warder spot weekens on falcon.... but you target orc and use single target advantage or even ward or melee buff ... then you kill that orc, your warder gain affinity.
I have also tryied to change target and use some advantage on each mob in group or each mob I was fighting than kill them all by AOE, but I got affinity only once.
That means, that you have to use advantage on mob than kill him subsequently, then change target and do same with other mob.
There is not need to assist your warder, you don't care on which mob he spoted weekenes.

its simple -during a fight with an infinite amount of engaged mobs you can get infinite affinity upgrades.

you would switch to spirit stance and only press the blue grp ward. when you klick it - the next mob that is killed
will give you affinity. doesnt matter if your pet has targeted it or not. to maximize effect you would body agro encounter
hit twice f1 to target pet - wait for advantage to pop - cast grp shield - wait for new advantage to pop - kill mob ( if pet didnt kill it ) while advantage is still up.
once you get affinty point hit grp ward again and wait for the next advantage before you kill the next mob.

its like an invisible buff once you casted an advantage - next mob that dies gives affinity credit. you must not kill mob with
the advantage or you wont get the "invisible buff" ie. no affinity for next kill. if last mob is down and you are out of combat
and an advantage is still rdy to click you could cast the advantage that doesnt require a target. you can stay out of combat for
idk how long and the next mob you kill will give you affinity upgrade. it doesnt matter which encounter you casted your advantage on
as long as you didnt kill a mob with it.

edit : of course you dont need to assist your warder but it preferred because advantages do dmg and sometimes the 2nd advantage
will kill the mob so you already get an affinity point. would be a waste to kill the one thats in your target.. but yeah
