Default Buckler at Lower Levels

I'm an old Berserker (level 47) that has just jumped back in with the release of RoK, and I was hoping to have a couple specific questions answered about our STA/Buckler AA line.

It seems nearly unanimous from what I've read that using a Buckler w/ STA line AA points is superior to dual wielding or a 2hander, but at what point down the STA line is this threshold met: i.e. after how many points in the 4-4-8 STA series should I swap in buckler to my offhand (for soloing)?

Also, when tanking for a group at my level, should I be keeping the buckler equipped or swaping in a higher protection shield, assuming my STA line is 4-4-8 or something similar?

Cheers

4488 sta makes a mastercrafted buckler only slightly less defence than a mastercrafted tower shield. 448 makes the 1 hand + buckler about the same damage as dual wield and 2hand given that the weapons are of the same quality and you have just 17 aas.

Buckler even without putting points into the 4th stamina gives more survival with roughly equivalent dps to the other weapon wielding styles.

Doesn't matter if you are soloing, grouping, or raiding. Stamina line all the way, all the time, imo. Most common build for a zerker now involves full stamina line, full intelligence line, and strength line until max crits. Something like:
Sta 4-5-8-8-2
Int 4-8-4-8-2
Str 4-4-8

This is what I use. Probably not exactly the most common one, but since I am well into diminishing returns on haste (many times over hard cap even) I thought the extra points in int3 would be wasted. Hell, the 4 I had to put into it is a waste, for me. Final Stamina ability saves a noticeable amount of power on long fights and the heals from it helps when solo (mostly)

Interesting build there. I'll have to check at home since I don't have the tree memorized, but I'm pretty sure my int is 4.5.8.8.2. Don't think I'm at the hard cap on Haste ATM so I"ll be keepin' my points in there for a little bit.

STR is a no-brainer though :D

What is the new cap for parry? And don't forget that cap is vs even con mobs. I know I'm very rarely at parry cap even with a dirge because I'm in O stance. Certainly better than int3 ability. Even solo, without group buffs, I'm into diminshing returns and many times in group I spike to 260.

520 is new cap (6.5*80)

400 from being level 80
43 adept 3 new dirge parry song with no AAs (higher if they spend extra aas in this line...think about 60 if mastered and points into it)
28 from old m1 defensive stance (35 from new)
20ish from int if you have int4

All in all, you need <30 parry on your gear to hit cap while in defensive stance

I like Lizerd's spec. Pretty much the best a zerker can do or very close to it. int 2 and int 4 > int 3 for a zerker and agi is not mandatory for zerker.

Int 3 is better than int 2 because mathematically speaking it nets more haste permanently.

That said, I have both maxed... *shrug*

+Parry, being a contested avoid check, isn't high on my list of must-haves.
