Default MT gear

After recently being not only promoted to MT we have also recently become VP enabled. I have been seeing it more and more often my HP is very spikey and there is not much in terms of defensive buffs I havent been burning.

As far as gear goes I have the best that I have been able to obtain, however I need to start looking into a setup that will make tanking vp for my guild as easy as possible.

On top of my gear which is linked below I am fully AD3+ all short term duration defensive buffs are mastered.

When tanking anything semi difficult i run uncontested avoid food and drink + hp potion + a monk with his avoid buff on.

Now I know the obvious items that I would like however there are still a lot of slots im conflicted on.

Wishlist:
Chest:Battleguard of atrebe or wrathbringers
Helm: Wrathbringers
Arms Wrathbringers
Waist Iron Plated Utility belt
Back: OK cloak

Please feel free to peel me apart and look at everything.

P.S is it just me or is there no real "tanking" gear from VP?

There are a couple meh wrists but they got 200ish hps , there is dreamers scale earring, 35 haste and 6 parry iirc, also resonating wire a 300 hps bow. Some other plate gear and figther jewelery i dont remember atm but you can find better on lower tiers of raiding or even on heroic places.

Then there is a our crappy set gear , which for most pieces you can find better in lower tiers or even heroic content, the gloves are nice though fat hps and 8 parry.
Having said that our set gear is crappy it might not be a bad idea to invest on as many pieces as possible since all of them have high HPS and mitigation as well for whatever little it is worth now days.
Offcourse if you lucky to have Wrathbringer Helm and Shoulders those are best tanking gear you can have.

Hopefully next LU will revamp most VP gear

As much as this pains me to say. If there is no consideration of finding another guardian.

If you or your guild can afford it, betray and do it before you start getting set gear patterns.

You'll find the success rate much more appeasing, especially since you have just reached VP.

And since you guys have only just reached VP your not going to take that much of a hit for losing class set gear, since you wont have any yet.

The defensive abilities of the guard are 2nd to none.
We really did get the shaft.

My problem is i have shitty luck as soon as a betray they will throw zerkers a bone.

Betray if you intend on full time main tanking, any other course of action is just crippling your guild for no good reason. If you want to be the best MT you can be, that is not a berserker.

And even if you betrayed and zerkers got 'thrown a bone', it's almost certain that any 'bone' we got would certainly not put us in contention as a competitive main tank compared to a guardian, so you will still be a better MT.

yep man, you really need to do it for your guild and not be selfish about hoping that zerks get some love anytime soon in the tanking department.

my new guild is really testing my tanking abilities and it sucks because they get to see my health spike into the red while tanking some of the harder hitting mobs with little i can do to mitigate much of it with temporary buffs. all this while still being evaluated vs other tanks so it still has me a little uneasy.

if you stay a zerk the 2 best items you can use to mitigate damage are the T1 set helmet(not sure what the T2 set has, i didn't pay much attention) and your fabled SoD, items like iron plated utility belt help alot too then you have T8 signets which can heal for 1k and farm a defiler essence for another emergency heal and the tribunals 20% damage blessing. all we have is a handful of 1 use clickes to help us out where guards get to refresh theirs all while getting the same clickies.

with the proper players and group setup zerks can still tank defensively with a tower just fine and hold aggro, if you stay a zerk you will have to balance this out in VP(spikes will still be an issue though, Druushk was hitting me for 9k a pop with adrenaline up before he was fully debuffed, though i am still OT specced).
