Default MT Ideas

I am the MT of my guild and we just made VP (congratulations us), not all of our crew is flagged so needless to say we are short staffed atm (6 healers, no Illy, and hell our whole 4th group last night was fat kidded). That being said we are going into Levi to get our other 3 healers, illy, wizzy, and a few flexible alts flagged next raid. Keep this in mind.

So the first night we walked into VP smacked the trash around like a redheaded step child, wurms and all. I died a total of 4 times, 1 from a wurm pwning my face, 2 deaths from learning you dont pull with arrows lol. and 1 death from Kluzen or w/e the first named is. So, we got up and smacked Kluzen the second pull no problem. Those are my 4 deaths. We finished clearing all the way to druushk and called it a night.

The next night we went over to the second named Eldron i think is the name, and may i remind you we still only had 6 healers to split between the MT OT and 1.5 dps groups. We pulled him got him down to 19% and 12%. The 12% pull we would have killed him but the last add frontal'd the raid (an assassin tagged it before the OT could spin it) so it frontals us, we lose most of the dps groups and 2 healers, and we wipe.

The one thing I take away from our SECOND night in VP is this. I know the mobs are only going to start hitting me harder and I was specc'd for buckler even though i only used it for initial agro while i had adrenaline on the pull (which i dont like out the gate cause it Kills my power) then i switch to tower. Last night i respec'd for dragoon stance understanding im going to lose more agro control when it is casted but through a little manipulation i think i can handle it. I NEED Incarnadine Earring still, the wrist from the chardok instance and maybe another minor upgrade or two. From last nights aa change i went down agi and wis for the Mitigation bonus mostly because lets face it, no one is PARRYING a shot from druushk, and got all 8 points in hate gain.

We were short virtually a whole group (dps speaking) and 3 healers. so that will clean up a lot of the heavy hits and recovery so i dont get 2 shotted by these freaking highway trucks they call nameds.

Anyone that MT's or has MT'd as a berserker going into VP (non-mythical'd and t1-t3 gear) that can offer any advice, come up with something I haven't thought of, let me know. We aren't changing MT's, guard guard guard, blah blah blah... We all have heard it, we all know, Domination has had much success using a Zerker MT and will continue to do so. Hopefully we can toss around a few ideas help each other out. Thank... eq2 flames INC in 5.

That spec makes baby jesus cry

You should be getting enough hate from a dirge and whatever you use for hate (assassin or swash). For extra fun get a coercer in your group and you'll be golden.

Speaking of which, what is your group setup and what are you using for your main weapon? I've tanked in VP pre-mythical and I was in buckler spec. The VG is an amazing piece of gear (which I assume you have) and you should have no problems staying alive.

Reflexes is a good "oh shit", but Adrenaline is just as great and you don't have to go down a tard AA line.

Hope that helps, and grats on VP.

Thanks for the reply endo. First let me say, im not sure if it was the 2 more healers (total of 8) or the spec but i had 0 problem tonight, infact we slapped the second named, then went to pull druushk and i feel very comfortable with being able to tank that fight. To answer your question our MT setup is such for trash:

Berserker - fabled epic/shield of the green dragon
Templar
Defiler
Coercer
Dirge
Assassin (used a swashy for the tomes before druushk)

I had 0 problems with agro in Tower or Kite shield. And i do have VG.
Nameds was this:

Berserker
Templar
Defiler
Coercer
Dirge
Warden

I will go back to my buckler spec when we reset the zone to see if it truely was getting the other 2 healers in zone or the AA and see which i like better. My favorite part about having dragoon reflexes is I believe it makes the transition to VP a little smoother on my healers as it is the 3rd time in the zone (first for the other 2) and they are used to smooth sailing.

what weapon would u suggest? The only other option i can think of is twisted club.

Thanks for the advice endo and I will try out buckler spec again, see how it happens.

Not sure what you've raided in the past, but I rocked the Grim Brimstone Hammer up until I got my Fabled Zerker weapon. I also put the 3% riposte adorn on the mythical, but hell if you are worried about not dying, throw it on your current one.

Your group setup looks very solid and that's what we roll with when I MT as well. (usually have the swash though *tear*).

I guess get comfortable with VP and get some gear from there and you should have no problem using your buckler spec again.

I've tanked and cleared all of VP with the standard Str/Sta/Int spec using a buckler the whole time- Virtue's Guard for tougher fights, switching to Harbinger of Malconent for trash and weaker named. I've never had a problem tanking it, especially once we all got used to the zone and how hard mobs can hit there. We only cleared it for the first time last week, and won't be back in there until after the holiday weekend, but I'm really looking forward to doing it with a raid force that's about 90% Mythicaled out.

The main things I can tell you are, get all the uncontested avoidance you can, and all the health you can (the more health you have the less chance you have of being one or two shot and we tend to have lower health then Guardians since we don't have a self buff that adds health). Make sure you have 3% riposte on both wrists and use a slasher in your main hand so you can put 3% riposte on it too (I was using Segmented Serrator until I got my Mythical, but the fabled Epic works all right too). Also get the T6 1% block chance adornment for your shield. Anything else you can get with uncontested avoidance is great (T1 Fabled Helm and Shoulders- which I've NEVER seen drop in months and months of farming T1 and T2- and the wrist/finger item from the end boss of RE2 that has 1% parry are all nice). If you haven't done it already, macro your stances to one click switching and be ready to hit Adrenaline, Wall and Defensive stance if you start to spike. If you're health isn't real stable, make sure you're cycling your temp buffs throughout the fight too.

All pretty standard stuff if you plan on being MT, but there's no reason to switch out to a tower spec. You'll have a hell of a time holding aggro with a tower if your DPS knows what they're doing.

The group you list for named fights is what I usually have in the MT group too.

So I respec'd my warrior tree to basically what I had it set at before making this post, but this time through the help of a few players it was a MUCH more effiecient version of the Str Sta and Int lines. I moved some points around because during raids i was often above 100 double attk, and the hate gain i didn't need with my MT set up. Also finished off stamina line again (didn't have it before because I didn't notice the difference, and now that I went w/o it I can tell)

Anyway, Bravo to those that helped me take a closer look to my specs to make me more effiecent. We reset VP last night, and Kisada died three times, once was a wurm (gotta love their dbl attk) , 1 on Ekron, and 1 on Druushk. It went extremely well and I was able to tank everything in buckler with a little switcheroo action to the SoH tower shield for the heat proc on druushk. We didn't get him down but ooooo baby i know its coming.

Thanks again to all and special thanks to Karsgaar for the help.
