Default Recast time for rescue ability

Hello Everyone,

I got a question about time for recast rescue.

I got the end ability int, so 12% better recast time and i put 5 points into TSO tree for rescue, so 50% better recast time.

Base recast time is 5 min. and with end line int ability and 5 points in TSO rescue i got only 3 min 6sec recast time.

I think there is a problem somewhere.
What about that ?

Probably SOE math?
Where 100% recast of 5 minutes is 2 min 30 sec?

Dunno, just they play with % strange games usually.

yep. for sony 100% reuse reduction means half the base reuse

This is how SOE calculate the reuse (I think you need to smoke something to come up with this method along with that description). This is straight from the dev's mouth. The rest of the world might like to refer to this as "a third".....

Quote:
The way to calculate how much reuse speed it'll reduce is not as straight as you calculated it. You need to put a formula to calculate it.

I will try to explain. The Spell description says "Improves reuse "Speed" by 50%".

The reuse "Time" for "Rescue" Ability is 5 minutes = 300 seconds.

Consider 100 as the base reuse speed for this calculation and try this formula: - Reuse base speed x Reuse time = Reuse modified speed x Reuse modified time.

We need to find out what the "Reuse modified time" will be after this improvement in reuse speed.

Reuse Base Speed = 100
Reuse Time = 300 (in seconds)
Reuse Modified Speed = if 100 is base and it's improved by 50% = 150
Reuse Modified Time = We need to calculate this using the formula.

Formula:
" reuse base speed x reuse time = reuse modified speed x reuse modified time "

Apply the figures:

100 x 300 = 150 x reuse modified time

30000 = 150 x reuse modified time

30000/150 = reuse modified time

200 (in seconds) = reuse modified time

3 minutes 20 seconds = reuse modified time

So, after applying "Enhance Rescue", the reuse modified time would be 3 minutes 20 seconds which is what you've got.

It's working as intended. I hope this explains the situation.

It's because they word it reuse "Speed" etc.

If it takes you 30 mins to drive a certain distance doing 50mph, if you increase your speed by 100% to 100mph it's will take you half the time. Haste works in the same way I believe.

"Working as intended", Sorry for the shitty example

yup - it's fine once you know that they work things that way. I just wish that the calculations for this kind of thing were more freely available so those that care could understand what they get for their AA ;)

I disagree.

Those that care actually spend time and/or plat to respec and check changes such as these. It is a sign of those that give two shits to learn the best min/max strategies, as opposed to those that just want SoE to shell out a complete walk-through and hold everyone's hand.

Remember when STA line was introduced and Warriors didn't immediately gravitate towards it out of fear of not being able to use Tower shields and that it wasn't worth it?

Remember when mitigation actually mattered and the change that later went in effect and how many people were clueless as to what X amount of mit meant, or what Y mit bonus actually gave them?

I'm not knocking those that want the immediate up-front answers, but I am saying that plenty of others enjoy finding out the crunchy bits of info on their own.

While on my way to 200 AA, not all of the hard numbers of many of our AA abilities were listed and yes, I invested points in many of them just to find out what the numbers meant. Of course in a few more AA dings, I will be resetting all AA trees and have np w/ that. To me, it is kind of expected.

yeah - I'll respec almost certainly once I get to 200 (to more raid than group based setup)

I do think that if you say 50% reuse that you should be more specific in what you mean. knowing what impact +150mit will actually have is a little different to what almost everyone would assume "50% faster reuse" meant.
