Just getting the Heroic T1 shard set will allow you to tank the vast majority of the new group stuff. There is a lot of avoidance on those new pieces compared to legendary stuff from RoK, plus the set bonuses like someone said.

The T1 set won't take long to get, then you can start saving up shards for jewelry or towards upgrading to T2 pieces.

I am running T1 shard armor with Honorbound Vambraces and Tramplers Boots from PR. For Mutagenic Burst, get the Fabled earring from DF. I also have the Mutagenic Burst gaunts from ToMC but the 20% bonus to Mutagenic by having two pieces is not worth losing the shard set bonus and I am not giving up the Tramplers Boots. The DA is precious.

I just need a goddamn weapon upgrade from Fabled epic. Scouts keep winning all the slashing weapons and I get scolded for rolling on piercers.

And I told my static group last night when the -hate earring from AoB dropped, the rest of them have till LU51 to get that piece. When LU51 hits, I'm calling that tank gear

And yes, the Mantle is still a very solid piece. Not quite pimp anymore but, it's still got some swagga. I didn't mean to imply it sucked.

tbh I really only still use mantle because of the DA. I wear head, chest, gloves shard armor, and then tramplers boots, impalers legs, and mantle. If i didnt have the impalers legs i prob woulda scrapped mantle a long time agro and gone for the 5 piece shard armor.

i do have all 5 pieces on me and i put them on for tougher zones (survivability over dps, i am a tank after all)
