Default Mitigation..

Perhaps I suck at using the search tool but I can't seem to find a couple things.

Rumor has that diminishing returns on mitigation starts at around 6200. Any truth to this?

I heard something the other day that sounded like bullshit.. Someone told me that fabled armor mitigates damage better than legendary. Any truth to this?

No, but level 80 armor will mitigate damage better then a level 79 piece. by small amounts...

Disregard his reply, I know little of the class, but I do hope I know a bit more than he does.

Fabled armor, does indeed mitigate better than legendary, and is based on the level/tier mob you are fighting. For example, level 60-69 mobs you want armor within that range, as when you hit 70, you're likely to take a slight beating. I at present can hit around 69% avoidance with defensive gear and defence stance, grouped/raid setup I can peak at around 73/74% avoidance and I have what I consider weakish gear, and am still learning the class.

As for the exact number for diminishing returns, I'm sure some of the more seasoned zerk's know that answer.

If you're tanking, you want to try and aim for capping your parry and defence skills (520 on each). You will also want to try and get your parry capped for offensive stance. Also aim for the Tier 2 Void Shard armor, as that will serve you well until you can pick up the raid gear.

For gear posts, if you haven't already check these out from Comalv as they do provide great insight as to what to look out for.

And for anyone who would like to pass comment on my gear at present feel free to do so as any and all pointers are greatly appreciated. EverQuest II Players - Profile for Nagarab

Fabled doesn't have a bonus to mitigate more than legendary. Only the lvl, and the mitig number matter. A tresored lvl 80 chest plate with 600 mitig, mitigate more than a lvl 80 fabled chest with 500 mitig.

Thanks for clearing up the legendary/fabled question.

I'm still looking to see about diminishing returns. I have all the tier 2 shard armor, 2 pcs of the TSO raid armor ( bracers and boots ) and the shoulders from Varsoon. I can reach 7k+ mit with the 5 pc bonus on the t2 stuff but am I wasting slots that could be used for more dps/agro pieces?

What's your avoidance hitting? As with TSO that is just as important as mitigation.

Kinda a noob question probably, but want to ask anyway: what is diminishing returns? Is that something like the stat cap?

Not really, it's when you start to see smaller and smaller gains from increasing the stat. When you have high miti, let's say 6000, another 1000 mit won't be as much as it was when you had 4k mit.
