Crit gear > DA gear. With all the DA buffs avaible from illy/dirge.. well.. I prefere to be at 100-110% melee crit than 100 da unbuffed.

vormav doesnt lie and can back up his shit rather then some people like darkhain who consistenly 1 lines threads with "lol" and "lawl" posts trying to make himself look cool or smart or whatever the fuck.

crit is alot harder to max out then double attack depending on how your grps are setup and who gets what buffs. Crit also seems to be on a diminishing return curve against orange mobs where you need 110-115% to have 100% critical hits.

Dont ever worry about melee mod. Its really not gonna make much of a difference. I would actually try and get higher spell crit rather then add melee mod.

If you ask me its like this...
If you cant get 80+ DA: DA > CRIT > dpsmod > haste > spell crit > melee mod
if you can get 80+ DA: CRIT > DA > dpsmod > haste > spell crit > melee mod

Well, I've noticed that most of our shit has way more Melee Crit on it then Double-attack.

The big difference I'd assume is the fact that Melee Crit will effect everything from your Auto-attack to your CA's. Double-attack will only increase the chance your auto-attack will swing a second time.

Melee Crit: 100% benefit across the board
Double-Attack: Could double your auto-attack damage (Auto-attack is what, 60%-70% of our damage?)

I mean I need both obviously, I'm just trying to prioritize which is more important on a gear-level.

Do Melee crits work like spell crits? Are you looking at roughly the damage of the hit + 30%?

Your missing the point. Most buffing classes buff DA rather then crit.

Its true crit comes on gear more then DA but it is still much easier to cap DA with the right buffing classes.

Crit calcualtion is the same on combat arts however on weapons its different where it takes the delay and weapon spread into calculation.

Yeah, that much I understand. Revisiting the class, not new to the game

On the melee crit calc, any idea?

Sup Zahne! Since I had little to do at work I'd figured I'd be posting a quick reply to your post and share what kind of numbers I have on Grimmy. But before posting actual numbers I just want to let you know in what order I think you should prioritize.

DA - DPSM - Haste - Crit.

Even tho I myself prioritze DA that high, being nr1 on my list, I still don't have that high since I've been somewhat unlucky on decent drops with +DA on it heh. My numbers are as follows.

DA: 52% DPSM: 112 (diminishing returns and lands around 97% extra autoattack dmg really) Haste: 75% Crit: 83%.

If u run ACT and you start killing dummies over and over you get a somewhat decent info on what will be your highest actual dmg. 60-65%~ of my total dmg comes outta regular autoattacks which are all based on your DA and DPSM ( Damage Per Second Mods ) along with Crit upon that. It is also a good thing to use to be able to see what your equipment actually procs which might give you a good idea about what you have to switch out and so on. I've been juggling alot with this because I want to make the most outta my character. Since zerkers most dmg comes outta regular autoattacks having a decent high haste ( which affects attack ) is a must as well.

So the biggest thing imo is to have a BALANCED built to get a stable and reliable tank. As u state flipping between stances and DW is a must for a raiding berserker due to the fact that we need to be versatile in our role. I'm MTing in the raiding society I am in and I myself switch alot between Off-Def stance, one thing I like to do is to hit defensive buffs and switch to Off stance and whenever they start running out I'm switching back to Def depending on how the situation looks like. I'm sitting at 18k~ HP 77% avoid 63% mit in def stance when in MT group, and wont go under 72% avoid when switching to Off stance, and I get a feeling that helps. I have a few macroes that either switch to Off stance with one shield, and one Defensive with another shield. Also have one for DW switching to Off stance. Can't really find a good reason to have a DW in Def stance, cause if you grab aggro at the wrong time you surely wanna go Off + Shield at worst.

Anyways.. I hope this helps somewhat and if you have any questions feel free to ask them in game or here, I know we've keept in touch every now and then in game, but damn there's always soo much happening I usually don't have that much time to reply, as you might've noticed *grins*.

Good luck to you!

Yeah, I'm on the training dummies every couple days testing changes to gear. I mainly wanted to start this thread to see what the general consensus from the Vets was.

Hey, no worries man ;) ... As you can expect my demand for a plate tank has gone down considerably since shelving the Warlock.

It's kinda hard to tank and chat sometimes if you actually pay attention to what's going on.
