Default Revisiting my Berserker

I've had my Berserker since around 2006. He's been mainly used for tanking instances, and filling in when one of our regular plate tanks wasn't available.

Lately, our raid leader asked me to switch from my Warlock to the Berserker to act as OT for our raids. (And occasionally MT when our Guard isn't around)

I've been back on him for a month, and through some help from the guild have been getting geared up. Because the toon is from 2006, my main hurdle is AA.

At this point my Defensive stats are fairly good, and I have pretty good HP. What I'm noticing is the need to increase my offensive stats.

So what has the most profound effect on Berserker DPS? I realize in the long-run it will be a combination of things, but I'm trying to figure out what stat is going to do the most for me in the short-term.

Knowing what I do, I'm thinking it will either be Melee Mod, or Double-Attack. Melee Crit seems like it'll be more of a nice-to-have then an absolute need. (As the Berserker hits aren't really super beefy, I'm not sure the crit would really add that much compared to Melee Mod).

Right now my Melee Mod is Dismal, so I've been trying to beef that up through gear. It's been a little rough as the first three pieces of TSO pattern gear don't seem to carry any.

Any input would be appreciated,

Edit: Here's a link to my profile on players. Players as usual is all fucked up and not displaying stats properly. In a decent group I sit at around 19k health, 75% avoid and 65% mit.

Also, I'm wearing the spiked pauldrons of dismay in the shoulder slot. It'll probably take players a month to update that.

In any raid group your DPS and haste mods should be fairly high as it is.. I'd gear all your items toward DA first, then melee crit. CA mod isn't generally all that great for our class but you'd want to try for a few hundred, after capping the other 2.

Yeah actually, I'm not worried about haste or DPS. I've seen both clear 200 depending on the group.

Yeah, definitely get your DA up to 100%. DA effects your autoattack and since autoattack can account for almost 60% of your DPS. So Double Attacking almost 100% of your autoattack is a good thing. Moar DPS = Moar Hate with our class.

Yeah, the defensive shit isn't so great if the mob isn't physically on me. I know I can start using the DA pots, and I *think* there may be a temp DA adornment kicking around. I'll have to look.

As for DA gear, I'll need to go through that "best gear" list again to pick out a few chunks that can raise it.

As great as it would be to have IA in every raid, it probably isn't going to happen.

Right now I'm stacking my abilities/CA's properly, but I'm seriously hammering the shit out of everything to *just* keep hate.

My first question is with the defensive gear you have on do you tank in Offensive stance or defensive? and what type of hate mod/transfer do you normally have?

Depends, it varies.

I have about four options to play with, and I swap between them as required depending on the group configuration and the content we're raiding.

Against TSO stuff, if I'm actually taking hits I find myself in defensive. If things are going my way, I probably have a Temp/Defiler/Coercer/Assassin/Dirge in the group with me.

If I'm not taking hits at all, I go full offensive with duel wield. I have macro's to switch back if I need to. Most of the time though, I'll usually be in offensive with a shield. If I need to pick anything up, I jump into Def stance before tagging it.

Sorry for the vague response, but I switch in and out of duel wield, offensive and defensive pretty frequently depending on what's going on.
