Don't be fooled the Bone Sabre sucks. My guild doesn't do vp anymore so no luck on the claw for me but from what I've tested out that is by far the crappiest yet easily accessable offhands you can get. The one from woe isn't too bad but really try and get Kelkrins from Atrebe's Lab. You'll get a lot better results from it as the hp is nice for tanking as is the 5 da. Also the bone sabre is a piercing weapon which means no ayr stone adorn which kills its viability for tanking.

Indeed, the Ayr Stone adorn is pretty nice if you plan on tanking with it. Then again I use a Smoldering Phantom Handle on my Nox Noctis and I tank regularly with it (though I probably should change to an Ayr Stone).

Pretty much your options with a piercing offhander are a Phantom Handle (for the power proc), Vampiric Handle (lifetap proc), Runic Temper (for raw DPS), or Glancing Tsuba (for the +6 Parry). Personally I'm a fan of the Phantom Handle, since it's a multipurpose proc, and you can rarely go wrong with more power.
