Default Agro holding advice

OK, so I tried my hand at tanking again tonight and still had problems holding agro.

Here is the situation...
lv80 zerker
141 aa's
6/7 piece of T1 void armour (Heroic, missing chest). Plus agro leg shield and fabled belt.
Weapon needs improving but I can not get a group for the epic line.

I pull with the triple hit attack then spam my taunts whenever they are up using my highest dps attacks when no taunts are available.

I know how to tank, I tanked wow for over a year including raids and have tanked many instances pre TSO in eq2. But both times I have tried tanking TSO I have had problems keeping agro.

Any advice please? (also pls keep l2p type comments to yourself).

Keeping agro is vastly dependant on group setup and other peoples gear. So go into detail about that please =]

Well, not sure about gear but we were clearing trash in DF very easily.

Troub healer.
Wizard, lock, sin and illusionist on dps

We kept wiping on first boss, in the forge to the left as you enter the instance.

stand in offensive. i'd bet youre in defensive stance. No zerker holds agro in defensive without a dirge in the group. I'd also say tell the illy to give you IA. hes prob got it on the ass which gives better overall dps, but if the tank isnt holding agro then dps effeciency can go to hell.

I'd also say make a macro that equips your shield, and another one that equips your offhand weapon. that way when the dps spikes up you can macro in a second weapon for a couple seconds for an agro boost and then swap the shield back in.

You were likely dying in Deep Forge because you didnt kill those double down hammers and were getting that Elemental. I can't see any other reason to be wiping in Deep Forge :/

thats the reason for wiping. their +healthregen buff doesnt even really count as a heal...

Thanx Grandmaster, I have only ever played a zerker to high level and solo'd most of the time so really have little to no idea of how other classes buffs work (maybe I should read up a little).

I had a similar group in Kunzar and we cleared the heroic place to the north of the map (name escapes me) and I had no problem with holding agro there. So maybe the IA thing was a problem.

I will try and set up that kind of macro at some point today. Need to find a decent weapon first though.

A second possibility that just occured to me is that maybe the rest of the group were all in really good dear (t2 shard +) and were just dps'ing too much.

To Serraphim - we wiped first time due to them hammers, but then second and third time we were able to take them out. Wiping cos the boss kept leaving me and one shotting the rest of the group (one by one). It is hard to keep agro with only 4 taunts.

The_mo - I was under the impression that troobs were the best healers in game. Am I wrong?

Thank you all for your comments :D

Wow man...It never fails to amaze me how much information about this game that I take for granted.

I gotta ask did the troub actually say they could heal? Cause that's just terrible. Your Blood Regeneration self buff makes you more of a healer than a troub.

Getting the right classes for a group is usually the responsibility of the group leader and I got to wonder how you ended up with that group.

As a tank you need to know what other classes bring to your group, you are the focus, the lead and the foundation of that group. Do some research, seriously. At the very least you should know what each of the 24 classes do and what they should be doing in your group.

Easy mode answer though is find yourself a coercer and a dirge and you shouldn't have aggro problems unless you really do need to l2p.

TY Artalis, that is exactly what I am currently doing (learning about other classes).
As for the group composition the grp leader went with a wizard over a warden (same guy different alts) for some reason.
