Advice please, Raid Tanking, what do I need to know?
I know nothing about tanking a raid, dpsing on my Ranger main is my usual role. Tanking groups with my 'Zerker is all I've done with him. Heres a link to my character. What do I need to know to tank with this guy? Not asking for mob specific stategies, just the basic you shoulda known xyz before stepping up to the plate.

Re: uhoh I needs help
Pull... taunt... mash buttons until either you or the mob are at zero health. Preferably the later. Oh yeah and a "hey xxx in incoming in 10 seconds" might be helpful.

Re: uhoh I needs help
tanking for raids it just like tanking for groups, except the mobs hit harder and you get an uber'er group
count, pull, spin to corner, proceed to beat the living shit out of it

Re: uhoh I needs help
Well some had suggested tanking raids was different/harder. I hadn't asked the tanks I raid with what they do, as there was a sort o' disagreement.
1-80: I mainly soloed or tanked zones for friends. I have been tanking tso instances and RE2 every night for the past few weeks, but that is relatively new. The main reason this character was leveled to 80 was leveling his berserker level was less boring then grinding faction writs for RoK recipes.
He's fun, and much more usefull after raid then my ranger main. Tanking raids was simply not in my plan. All I know about 'zerker I learned here in this forum.
Sounds like the basic advice is give em a 10 count , pull and put my back against a corner, and try like hell to keep aggro, got it. Thanks

I'd say also get the Hold Rage AA from EoF tree to remove the penalties, and keep it up when tanking raid mobs, more defense is always helpful.

Re: uhoh I needs help
just dont overdo the 10 count, there is nothing more boring than a 10 sec pause between each kill, some dps will take it into their own hands to pull shit if you stop on every trash mob to say inc in 10 secs .. save it for the namers.

Re: uhoh I needs help
the only thing IMO that makes raid tanking harder is that all the mobs are fucking 2 gazillion feet tall so they dont path well. Its like trying to position a skyscraper.
I'd say the detrimentals are annoying, but if you've tanked any TSO zone you already know what I mean.

Re: uhoh I needs help
it's no different than group tanking, just can be a little more involved at times with more adds and more fucktards nuking the living shit out of mobs before they even get within your taunt range.
the real difference between raid tanking and group tanking is gear, without gear you are just a greasy spot on the floor. so don't wait for uber drops in the top end zones, pick up anything that is an upgrade... beit for DPS(aggro) or for survivability.
i'll finish my writeup in a few days which covers the more fine points of tanking. i didn't realize how many words it takes to describe how to do the shit we do daily without thinking about.
